K’rrik

Like any K’rrik deck, goal of this deck is to take advantage of K’rrik’s incredible ability to pay for costs with 2 life. By playing quite a bit of card draw and being able to pay for our spells using mostly life, our life total is generally our most limiting resource. Fortunately our life total is an easily renewable resource with various lifegain effects. Better yet, the goal of this deck is turning the downside of running down our life total into an upside by swapping our low life total with an opponent. This puts them within killing range and refuels our resources in one fell swoop. Effects such as Profane Transfusion, Soul Conduit, and Magus of the Mirror are often seen as fringe cards however this deck uses them to great effect. Blood Celebrant is an amazing card that allows us to pay 3 life to generate a . This enables us to run our life total down as much as we want while creating the mana to pay for the cost of a life swap effect.

Cool interactions:

Vilis, Broker of Blood combined with K’rrik basically reads pay four life, draw four cards. Add Sheoldred, the Apocalypse and you can draw any number of cards at will while net gaining 1 life per card. You will likely have to use Vilis’ ability to kill himself so as to not deck yourself. You can easily storm off after that and win numerous ways.

Pestilence Demon with lifelink serves as a wrath effect that gains incredible amounts of life.

Getting to 51 or more life with Aetherflux Reservoir and Exquisite Blood on the board allows you to deal infinite damage to your opponents in chunks of 50 life!

Bolas's Citadel + Aetherflux Reservoir + Sensei's Divining Top or Necropotence allows the player to draw/play the whole deck while gaining life and kill opponents with the fish bowl of death.

Equipping Pact Weapon, dropping our life total below zero and then hitting a Repay in Kind is a fun win.

One great set up play is Insidious Dreams on an opponent’s end step. You just have to have a few cards to pitch. Some piles I like to make are as follows:

  1. Bolas's Citadel > Sensei's Divining Top > Aetherflux Reservoir

  2. Bolas's Citadel > Blood Celebrant or other effect that allows to drop our life total at will > Repay in Kind > Gray Merchant of Asphodel

  3. Bolas's Citadel > Blood Celebrant or other effect that allows to drop our life total at will > Profane Transfusion

Storming off is a great way to close out the game. This is usually done by having Aetherflux Reservoir and Blood Celebrant on board with K’rrik after drawing a large grip of cards, usually with Peer into the Abyss, or Vilis, Broker of Blood.

The deck also runs a few pump effects as well as some big mana spells such as Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate as finishers.
