Sideboard

This deck is a variation on my Simic Control deck. Going Bant, rather than Simic, allows for spot removal. The wincon is still to get alot of wolves.

Creatures:

  • Snapcaster Mage is a staple for any control deck. It allows you to reuse all your played instants and sorceries.
  • Ice-Fang Coatl gives us a good blocker, especially when it has deathtouch. It also instantly replaces itself by drawing a new card.
  • Spell Queller is a good card to get around all "can't be countered" creatures.
  • Nightpack Ambusher, a big threat if left unchecked. You can't just bring it out whenever, look at the boardstate and decide if you need a sweeper first because this card on its own is not going to stop a horde of creatures.

Spells:

  • Consider helps us find the cards we need and if we draw an instant on turn one thats to expensive we can always recover it from the graveyard with Snapcaster Mage.
  • Path to Exile, probably the best spot removal in modern. However, it is pretty bad versus aggro decks since giving them free lands helps them alot.
  • Counterspell whoop whoop.
  • Force of Negation is a card that lets us play Ambusher without worries because its a free counterspell.
  • Archmage's Charm is a very versatile card. Having three modes makes it never a bad draw.
  • Cryptic Command, even more versatile than charm. It can even bounce back lands if your oponent is really mana-screwed. If anyone has any suggestions be sure to let me know in the comments.
