this is my friend's deck that I've decided to recreate from memory just to have it logged here. It's my favorite deck of his and I tweaked it a bit and thought it'd be fun to post here
Basically this is a tribal Elementals deck that uses Ball Lightning type elementals to get a single good hit in and do massive damage quickly. What I like about the deck is twofold:
Unpredictability/Punishment:
with most of the creatures being hasty and hard hitting, it is very easy to punish a player for tapping out, and it is also very hard to predict what the deck will do for your opponent. Do they use their kill spell on your Incandescent Soulstoke? Well they'd better hope you don't have a Spark Trooper in your grip.
Explosivity:
One thing this deck is great at is massive swings in life total. A single hit from Spark Trooper is a 12 point swing (you gain 6, they lose 6). Double strike increases that swing to 24 points, which, mentally, is devastating to a lot of opponents. Being at 8 while I'm at 32 makes most people scoop. Even without lifelink involved, though, taking 12 damage in 1 turn is tough to deal with.
I find that Spark Trooper and Boros Charm are the stars of the deck. Double Strike, Indestructibility, and 4 direct damage are literally the perfect combination of abilities for this deck. Haste, lifelink, and 6 power are one hell of a life swing and can be game changing.
The combination of life gain, explosivity, unpredictability, and consistency, make this deck very scary to play against and also very fun to play with.
