Slivers are decent in modern and can kill pretty quickly, but they do have some pretty big weaknesses. The first is just how devastating Blood Moon is if you don't have a vial in play. Second removal can really hurt. While Diffusion Sliver, Unsettled Mariner. and Frenetic Sliver aren't ideal they're the closest modern has to Crystalline Sliver, or Hibernation Sliver.
