Can a Young Pyromancer Mardu Midrange Deck actually be good in the current Modern Meta? With the use of Lurrus as the companion and recent sets adding some tools to the deck options a non-blue control/midrange deck seems possible.

Leonin Lightscribe adds a mini anthem and beater theme to the deck. If you have both the pyromancer and lightscribe out you can pump an army or after 1-to-2 good spells controlling the board and attacking the hand, move in for solid damage.

Lurrus getting back a lightscribe or pyromancer is good move to regain tempo, but recastng Kroxa every turn will wear down any game going late. The 4 mainboard unearths ensure Lurrus will stick around and keeping a village rites in response to an exile effect will make sure that plan stays intact.

This list removes 4 Lightning Skelemental for Kroxa in mainboard with an additional unearth and took out a cling to dust for an additional village rites.

If lightning skelemental was to be added to mainboard, the lands would be tweaked to allow Blood Moon in the sideboard for game 2 and 3 disruption.

However it appears that more artifact and graveyard strategies are coming back and blood moon is falling out of favor as a solid sideboard card, at least locally.
