Sideboard

I'm getting close to giving up. Last season, both my homebrews got to mythic fairly easily. I am stuck at platinum rank with this deck after a week of testing many versions of this.

Bloodchief's Thirst - There are times where I wish this was Closing Statement , but it seems to work a bit better overall. Helpful for multi-color Planeswalkers that Heartless Act and Vanishing Verse cant take care of. I do miss the instant speed of Closing Statement sometimes near endgame.

Heartless Act and Vanishing Verse - Both cheap removal cards that compliment each other, with one taking out multi-color creatures, and the other taking out mono-colored creatures with counters, Planeswalkers, and enchantments.

Humiliate - Just destroys ultimatum decks and other decks that want to use up all their mana. Getting a counter on Silverquill Silencer or Killian, Ink Duelist can really be an advantage since there is so much vulnerability in having 2 toughness in meta.

Killian, Ink Duelist and Silverquill Silencer at 2x each seem to provide a good balance. Running 4x of Killian is unfeasible being legendary, but it's really great... Well, it was great on Closing Statement , Silverquill Command (I miss using this card! EDIT: added it back in), and Heartless Act ... Only one of those remains. I'll have to remove those, not sure if running 4x Silverquill Silencer is a great idea. It seems to change the opponent's strategy more often than it triggers, but there's no doubt it shakes up the game. Maybe Eyetwitch to replace Killian, Ink Duelist ? I did love being able to grab Mascot Exhibition or Necrotic Fumes from the sideboard.

Elite Spellbinder doesn't need too much explanation. It's always helpful whether you're taking away their 3 or 4 drop, or giving yourself two extra turns to avoid Emergent Ultimatum or Genesis Ultimatum .

Nighthawk Scavenger seems to have so much value to it with lifelink, deathtouch, and flying for 3 CMC. These are really helpful abilities to have on the token that Nightmare Shepherd brings back.

Nightmare Shepherd + Dramatic Finale really make things difficult for the opponent when they're out together. Killing something like one of the two drops or Elite Spellbinder makes something more powerful than what it's replacing.

Blot Out the Sky is admittedly slow, but it wins games and is so versatile, especially helpful in games that can go 4 turns or 20 turns. It's such a beast when one or more Dramatic Finale are in play.

4x Dramatic Finale seemed like a lot at first, but I kept finding myself wishing I had this card in hand. It's been more useful than I would have predicted.

3x Castle Locthwain really helps with this deck's lack of card draw, although it can gain some card advantage through Humiliate . I was running 4x Humiliate , but I was getting plagued with low CMC cards.

Land isn't usually hard for me to figure out, but it keeps feeling like 23 is too little an 24 is too much. This may be a case of me needing to mulligan more often.
