Maybeboard

Creature (1)

This is a deck that I built in paper from a previous "Counters Matter" Pir and Toothy EDH deck. This one is heavily Planeswalker focused. I changed the theme simply because my playgroup was getting so frustrated by my turns taking so long due to my constant counter manipulation. This one tends to win a bit more consistently by sneaking in lethal Toothy commander damage or by pumping obnoxious amounts of counters into Planeswalkers to use final abilities the turn that they hit the board. Combo pieces such as Doubling Season are rarely necessary, but they do push the deck up and over the top every time they hit the board alongside Pir, Imaginative Rascal and any Planswalker. Due to Pir's unique wording and the difference between his wording and Doubling Season 's wording, he creates some very beneficial interactions with Planeswalkers. With Pir's replacement event on board, any time a "plus" ability is used for a Planeswalker, he adds an additional loyalty counter. This replacement effect can be seen with Doubling Season to greatly increase the number of counters being put onto a Planeswalker. Pir can add an additional 1 counter, but his ability replaces the counters with an "effect" and Doubling Season doubles the counters added with "effects." A +1 ability turns into a +4, a +2 turns into a +6, a +3 turns into a +8 and a +4 turns into a +10.
