"Rats, rats, rats! Hundreds, thousands, millions of them, and every one a life." —Bram Stoker, Dracula

Let's mobilize the sewers, gutters and city streets and get our squeaky bois that cheese, shall we?

THE ENGINE

Ramp/Reduction

To start this dumpster party we have to cut casting costs and ramp up. Getting Rat Colony to cost one mana, or even free with Aether Vial will get our swarm growing for sure.

Draw

One of the biggest weaknesses I find rats has is dumping out your hand then being at the mercy of top decking. Let's fix that up and get more cards flowing in. Dark Confidant, Phyrexian Arena, and Herald's Horn will do this for us, and the later cuts rat cost too!

A Flood of Rats

Now let's amass the chittering horde. Thrumming stone should really get reflavored for rat decks, since it's a staple for Rat Colony/Relentless Rats above all else. We also have the Dragon Throne in here to give our whiskered ones trample and to up that damage. Eldrazi Monument is situational, but if you have the pieces above already assembled why not make our rats immortal and give 'em wings. We also have the standard doors and banners going on to add more bite.

A deal with the Devil

So to build this doomsday rat dispenser we are running a ton of tutors and few draw spells.

Bubonic Karma

Sweet, so our offense is mapped out, but how do we protect the horde? Simple, make our opponents hurt whenever they wipe the board or swing through. Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, Ogre Slumlord, Zulaport Cutthroat and Blood Artist will give us value if our rats croak, and No Mercy will remove any mortal threats that dare tread into our warren.

Our commander is the stinky dwarf boi to cover one of the final weaknesses rats tend to have. There is almost no way to come back if your rats get wrathed, but now we can give 'em another shot thanx to Graveyard Gimli.
