Hi everyone, and welcome to my Glissa, the Traitor Commander deck! This deck is part of a series of Commander deck I am building from From the Vault: Lore which will also include Memnarch and Momir Vig, Simic Visionary . You can find those deck lists on my profile or in my From the Vault: Lore deck folder! I wanted to make these three commander decks because I felt like I needed to expand my Commander arsenal and spice up my playgroup with decks they haven't seen me play before. I chose Memnarch first because I wanted to start off with the most expensive converted mana cost Commander, then continue on in descending order. Up next was Momir Vig, Simic Visionary , and now we're finally at the end of the line with Glissa, the Traitor .

This deck has a similar theme to my Memnarch deck, but uses it in a much different. Unlike Memnarch , Glissa, the Traitor thrives on killing off your opponent's threats in order to get crazy value off of recycling back artifacts. That being said, the purpose of this deck is to literally kill everything and everyone within sight. Then once you've make the board an unlivable environment for your opponents, get massive value off of your own death triggers and swing in for big damage.

Glissa, the Traitor likes to kill things, so who are we to stop her? This deck is fairly straight forward. You just need to cast and use artifacts which you can get back by killing off your opponent's creatures to start the cycle all over again. As long as your opponents are playing creatures, this deck should be doing something to get rid of it and make yourself stronger in some way. To do this, we are playing many different Removal spells and Forced Sacrifice spells to get rid of your opponent's creatures. However, we are also playing with a one-sided board wipe Combo that can kill anything and everything.

Starting the game, getting the appropriate amount of mana to cast Glissa, the Traitor could be troublesome because of her strange mana cost. But with all of the duel lands and mana ramp you have, there shouldn't be too much trouble getting the appropriate mana. Once you do have Glissa, the Traitor out on the field, if you have a Solemn Simulacrum or Burnished Hart you can get some sick value by getting them back from your graveyard and using their abilities again and again. Add in an effect like Dictate of Erebos and you shouldn't need to worry about mana ever again.

Now that you have plenty of mana and having fun killing off your opponent's creatures, it's time to play out some threats to win you the game. Of course you can just pop off with Vraska the Unseen and her assassins, which is a feat all by itself, playing cards like Marionette Master or Wurmcoil Engine can be fatal. With Marionette Master , not creating the Servo tokens is the best decision for their Fabricate trigger. Losing four life whenever an artifact you control hits the graveyard can be a fast way to reduce your opponent's life totals. With Wurmcoil Engine , you shouldn't be afraid if it dies since it is so easy for you to get back while also getting its tokens.

There's also another win condition with Revel in Riches . Once you have this on the board, it's only a matter of time before your opponents have to deal with it or you'll win the game out of nowhere. Especially if you have the best kill spell in the deck Executioner's Capsule . If you have this card out with Glissa, the Traitor , you sacrifice the Executioner's Capsule to kill an opponent's creature. Then when that creature dies you may target the Executioner's Capsule in your graveyard with Glissa, the Traitor 's trigger and start the process over again for only three mana. I don't know about you, but being able to spend to kill a creature practically anytime feels pretty good.

Other than the mini combo with Gliss, the Traitor and Executioner's Capsule , there is an even crazier combo that has the possibility to kill every creature your opponents control. This kill combo is as follows:
  1. Cast Thornbite Staff and Viridian Longbow .
  2. Equip both Thornbite Staff and Viridian Longbow to a creature with deathtouch, such as Glissa, the Traitor .
  3. Tap Glissa, the Traitor to deal one damage to a creature your opponent controls. Since this creature has deathtouch, that one damage will be enough to kill whatever you targeted. When that creature dies, both Glissa, the Traitor 's and Thornbite Staff 's abilities will trigger which will let you get back an artifact from your graveyard and untap Glissa, the Traitor . You can repeat this step as many times as you like, each time killing a creature and grabbing an artifact from your graveyard which can lead into some fun and tricky situations. Oh, the value!
