Deck Summary

This is a 'low' pirate tribal deck that is very thematic. This deck runs no infinite combos, has two thematic tutors Deadeye Quartermaster and Forerunner of the Coalition. This does not lean heavily into the stealing mechanic but is apart of the deck. The deck focuses on evasion to get as many Beckett Brass triggers as possible. So much of the stealing should be highly interactable.

Deck themes:

  • Pirates
  • Stealing (Sub Theme)

This deck is fairly straightforward and both win conditions should be fairly obvious to your opponents.

  1. Bring all your opponents' life totals to 0.
  2. Win with Revel in Riches.
  1. Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer Can completely slowdown an opponent while accelerating your development in the early-game, but in the mid to late-game the 'Dash' ability will keep it relevant.
  2. Reflections of Littjara and Molten Echoes doubles all non-legendary pirates by creating tokens, and this can break open the mid-game.
  3. Dockside Extortionist is such a swing play in the right game, and can easily create enough treasures for Revel in Riches.
  4. Zara, Renegade Recruiter will allow you turn decks against their owner with you have the tempo and target a creature deck.
  5. Brass's Bounty will generally get you enough treasures for Revel in Riches.
  6. Port Razer if it connects will double the combats, allowing you to provide a lot of pressure.

This deck has an average CMC of 3.23, so you want 3-4 lands in your starting hand. Even with 2 lands and some ramp, I would consider taking a mulligan unless your hand is good. I would always mulligan at 0-1 lands and I would consider mulligan at 5+ lands since you would have a 31.5% (29/92) chance of drawing a land on the first draw and flooding from there is pretty likely with 34 lands.

The early-game should be making strong development plays for tempo and applying pressure against your opponents. Use early game treasures to ramp and deploy more pirates. You want a wide board as early as possible, since you need 3 pirates to connect for Brass's trigger. Ramping is normally a good play, but getting an early board is priority 1. Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, and Breeches, Brazen Plunderer are all great early game plays. You will likely want to cast Beckett Brass the turn you plan on swigging and connecting with 3 pirates. After you cast Brass your early game will generally be over.

The mid-game will be using all the tribal effects to ramp damage and hopefully keep stealing stuff with Brass. Brass will be a high priority target and will probably be destroyed. Casting her again can be very slow, so in the mid-game you are looking at taking out a player or two with the advantage you secured. Some note-able mid-game cards are Coercive Recruiter, Dire Fleet Neckbreaker, Port Razer, Dockside Extortionist and Zara, Renegade Recruiter

This deck does not shine in the late-game and unless things line up well, your only out will be playing for is pushing for the win. Revel in Riches is always a possible alt win con.

This deck is very thematic and it can definitely be a strong deck in the right group. Keep the pressure and keep Brass alive.
