Changes —March 18, 2018

This deck has gone through a lot since I first posted it. This is the current official deck list. I hope you enjoy.

Ok, so I've changed my mind...I'm thinking, as much as it pains me to say it, of taking our some of the less useful hydras...but I'm really torn...any suggestions or insights would be incredibly helpful and appreciated...

And possibly some of the wurms...??

Blood Artist or Zulaport Cutthroat mit be good. Nice deck!

Thanks! I -really- enjoy playing it, watching the looks on my friend's faces as I drop massive amounts of tokens is incredibly pleasing. Thanks for the suggestions. I might have to see about putting in a Blood Artist, but I think my only Zulaport Cutthroat is in use.

This looks fun but as you've stated-it's slow as molasses. Little wonder when your playing green and have nearly zero ramp. I'd add in (at least) the plethora of 3-drop rampers like Farhaven Elf who can get the mana flowing and then be sacrificed later on. The sorceries wouldn't hurt either.

With so many tokens/creatures hitting the board Impact Tremors and Purphoros, God of the Forge will do lots of work.

Consider too Buried Alive to dump Brawn, Anger, and Filth (with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth of course) into the yard to make sure connecting isn't an issue.

Goblin Bombardment and Viscera Seer are cheap (mass) sack outlets that give you an immediate gain while pumping your Commander.

Hope something I've wrote helps!

Those are phenomenal suggestions, thank you! Looks like there might be some cards I have to buy next chance I get...

As for ways of fitting your suggestions in, should I go with my first comments and get rid of some of the wurms and less useful hydras and try and focus more on the ramping, tokens, and devour?

I would. The wurms and hyrdas are fun but they don't really fit with your theme. You pay a bunch of mana to get em out just to try and have em die ASAP so Kresh gets bigger? The effort outweighs the gain imo.

With Kresh I think getting counters here and there is the important part. He scales with the game so the target isn't on your head immediately. I'd find ways to make him indestructible too, Darksteel Plate immediately comes to mind.

For a little chaos Assault Suit could be fun.

I just made my own jund deck with Suk'kuar at the helm, The Art of Jingoism. Check out the ramp section for guys that could work for you in here.

Dictate of Erebos would be great for sharing the sacking love too, haha.

Ok, I don't have all of those...here's what I do have. Would these be suitable replacements?

Ainok Guide

Borderland Ranger

Burnished Hart

Dawntreader Elk

Gatecreeper Vine

Krosan Tusker for it's cycle...

Loam Larva

Ondu Giant

Pilgrim's Eye

Veteran Explorer

Viridian Emissary

I prefer creatures that put the land directly onto the battlefield, so all who can do that I'd add.

June 4, 2016 3:03 p.m.

Would Cryptolith Rite be good for this deck...? With the amount of tokens I generate, each one of them could become mana producers...

It might be good since you have a number of high-costed creatures but I don't see many that could be continual mana-sinks. Examples like Ant Queen, Kessig Wolf Run, etc. If you add more of those then it could be worthwhile.

If you want to make your tokens do more than be fodder then Furystoke Giant would work well. If you go that route you need more haste enablers like Anger, Ogre Battledriver, Hammer of Purphoros and Fervor. And Brawn is a no-brainer in here too.

If you find yourself emphasizing token generating then Purphoros, God of the Forge and Impact Tremors to burn ETB with Stalking Vengeance and Vicious Shadows for LTB would combine well. As well as adding Ulasht, the Hate Seed for more of the same (as in the 99 or as the Commander, always wanted to build him).

Nice deck! I've been trying to make devour work for so long, but never got it to actually work correctly. Great job! Definitely upvoting.

PS: Can i build this deck as a near-complete copy? I have some of the cards, like Kresh.I'm asking because I think it would be polite.Mtg decks on TappedOut aren't protected by copyright, but still.

Pal00ka: I like all your ideas for focusing on the token generation, it's what I intended when I built the deck. I think the main thing I really need to get working better is the speed though. I can generate insane amounts of tokens that technically make a lot of the etb and ltb effects either a moot point or ridiculously o.p. instant over kills on multiple opponents. (lol) I just need to get them generating faster. But I would never completely disreguard advice. I do think Ulasht, the HateSeed, Brawn, and Anger would be damn good additions. Unfortunately, I'll have to buy Ulasht and Brawn when budget allows...

AwezomePozzum: I'm flattered that you think my build is good enough to reproduce! By all means, build it and let me know how it works for you. Be warned it can be a pretty slow deck atm, and I'm workin on gettin advice to speed it up, with a few great ideas already. I will try and post updates as I get the time. As it stands, between work and my kids, my decks don't get worked on nearly as much as I'd like to be able to...

CrazyDanPsycho Thank you. I think you should get rid of Dragon's Claw for Sol Ring.

Also, You know that Kresh the Bloodbraided does not interact with tokens created by say, Ghoulcaller Gisa, right? Tokens never enter the graveyard... Wait. Apparently i have the alara print of kresh, which says "Whenever another creature is put into a graveyard from play" which is wierd, as the vault version just says "whenever another creature dies". Interesting.

Pal00ka says... #16

If you need tokens faster then red has a lot of cheap cards that do just that. Check out my Zada's Hedron Mirror because the list is built to do exactly that.

And tokens do technically hit the graveyard, but only for an instant, before they go poof. That's why cards like Fecundity are still great draw engines even in token builds.

AwezomePozzum says... #17

Pal00ka Thanks. I guess I was confused there.

CrazyDanPsycho I'm making my copy to where any cards i have go in the maybeboard. That way the price that is displayed is for all the cards i don't have.

June 16, 2016 5:09 a.m.

I will probably add to the maybe board if I can figure out all the things I want to fit in... (lol)

June 16, 2016 12:45 p.m.

Should I take out Praetor's Counsel? I -really- love the card, but I wonder if it's worthwhile in here...workin on the mana ramping...will attempt to update as I make changes...

July 24, 2016 3:34 a.m.

Pal00ka says... #20

Praetor's Counsel is superb but in my Omnath deck it felt like a win-more card.

When I would cast it I'd already have a lot of my basics/lands out which made most of my ramp spells dead cards.

You have Where Ancients Tread but not Warstorm Surge-I'd switch that in for the Counsel.

July 24, 2016 11:15 a.m.

I honestly thought about taking out Where Ancients Tread, because with as many tokens as I can potentially generate and as powerful as they can be...it feels like too cheap of a win to me...I dunno. I think the deck will be powerful enough without those cheap wins. Not to mention I think I'm out of Warstorm Surges... (lol)

I think I'm gonna focus on some mana ramping, trample, and devour. Focus it a little more...
