"Jund Landfall"
This deck was inspired by [[user:sboy4]]'s [pioneer "valakut"](http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/pioneer-valakut/) list! Just wanted to add my own spice to it. My spice might have made the deck into absolute raging garbage. ;-)
I love [[Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle]]; it more or less sparked the creation of my 1st commander deck.
While Valakut is not in Pioneer (probably for the best tbh), I want to see if there's any way we can build a deck that, as a good ol' Valakut deck would, rewards us for building around land drops by dropping some heat on our opponents.
Let's jump into the deck tech:
===accordion
===panel: **Ramp**
Our ramp package:
- [[Arboreal Grazer]] puts a land from hand onto the battlefield, and leaves a blocker behind.
- [[Elvish Rejuvenator]] , [[Beanstalk Giant]] & [[Circuitous Route]] all help us slap some sweet Earth from our library onto the field, hopefully making our draws all the juicier.
- [[Atarka's Command]] is particularly fun here, which we'll usually use as an instant speed land play to trigger landfall & bolting face for 3.
===panel: **Landfall**
- [[Tunneling Geopede]] + [[Retreat to Hagra]] both give us the chance to slowly burn face every time a land comes into play. Either of these w/ a [[Sunscorched Desert]] is essentially a [[Shock]] to face.
- All of these effects will also turn on Spectacle, allowing us to cast [[Light up the Stage]] to refill, [[Skewer the Critics]] for a surprise bolt, and, most importantly in my opinion, [[Drill Bit]], which is essentially a budget [[Thoughtseize]]. This is important, as I suspect the deck will be pretty fragile, and denying the opponent of some resources will be crucial.
- [[Ramunap Excavator]] gives us some versatility, allowing us so sacrifice lands to [[Vraska, Golgari Queen]] or [[Elvish Reclaimer]], or discard to [[Thrill of Possibility]], as well as bringing [[Fabled Passage]] back, which can be a hilarious play w/ [[Mina and Denn Wildborn]] out to allow us to play a 2nd land; play a passage, trigger, sac it to get a land, trigger, bring passage back, trigger, sac it, trigger. Silly, but fun! There are many lines to take here, and these are only a few examples.
- [[Scapeshift]] has wildly explosive potential; it's a powerful card, as we all know. If the setup is done correctly & if you have either [[Tunneling Geopede]] or [[Retreat to Hagra]] out & all 4 [[Sunscorched Desert]]s still in your deck & even 1 copy of [[Fabled Passage]], you can easily do 10+ damage by turn 6.

===panel: **Cards to Consider**
- I'm thinking of splashing blue. Here are some cards I'm considering: [[Growth Spiral]], [[Mystical Dispute]] & [[Risen Reef]].
- [[Mystical Dispute]] would 100% be a sideboard card against control decks, mostly to protect key plays like a [[Scapeshift]] or something, or to stop something like a [[Thassa's Oracle]], or [[Teferi, Time Raveler]].
- [[Growth Spiral]] would be a 3 or 4 of in the MB. It's just so, so good, and would fit the theme of this deck incredibly well.
- [[Risen Reef]] is an absolute house, especially when paired with a [[Chandra, Acolyte of Flame]]. This could work well w/ Landfall & would even get around the need to run cards that allow us to play more than 1 land per turn.
- [[Omnath, Locus of Rage + Risen Reef]] could get really wild really quick.
- [[Mina and Denn Wildborn]] is definitely a budget version of [[Dryad of the Ilysian Grove]] here. Ideally, I'll be able to pick those up instead, but it's 100% budget-dependent, and dependent on whether or not I go into blue.
