Sideboard

Gruul midrange has the potential to be the best deck in modern. The card stormbreath dragon has propelled this deck to new heights simply because it cannot be killed by any one drop in the format(bloodchiefs thirst only if they kick it). Protection from white is the most relevant protection out there and the mostronsity is so powerful and easy to activate in this deck. Dealt 14 damage in one turn with stormbreath to an esper yorion player recently in a tournament and actually went 4-0 in the tournament as well. The platinum emperion sideboard combo not only can be done on turn two but is also never expected by any opponent.

Update: Went 4-0 in an 11 man 4 round tournament on 12/28/20. Worst this deck has placed is 4th witha 3-1 record and is actually 17-3 in tournament play. Beat eladmari toolbox 2-1, Oops all spells was a surprising win 2-1 thanks to turn 2 platinum emperion games 2 and 3, Beat blue moon 2-0, and esper control 2-0. I still can't find a card to cut for wren six making the deck 61 cards. Added 2 prismatic vista for more deck thinning because drawing lands late game really sucks. Added a relic of progenitus sideboard to help against storm and oops all spells. Added Chandra awakened inferno in the sideboard because its really good against control and other midrange decks, might swap it out for elder gargaroth in the side.

Update: 1-13-21 Adding two glory bringer main and a Stormbreath side due to my meta now having 3 mono red decks. Added a bonfire of the damned for a Bonecrusher giant mainly because bonfire is really really fun and if it works is just a blowout to aggro decks. The new kaldheim cards will have an impact on this deck most likely so stay tuned for that!

Update: 2-11-21 Added a third bonecrusher giant to help with early game pressure. Doing a 2-3 magus and blood moon split because right now magus is strong due to force of negation decks not running ways to deal with magus. Added a hexdrinker for those good hands with three lands and good three drops but no play turn 1. Just an overall strong draw no matter what point the game is at.
