Intro

Hello everyone. Welcome to GW Walkers. A recent homebrew of mine that has been waaay to much fun to play. Its all about jamming as many Plainswalkers as we can to just out value our opponents and win the game. Gideon is here, Nissa is here. Its a huge party.

Quick Runover

The deck plays alot like a token deck. Which is what it practically is. Nissa, Voice of Zendikar and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar flood the board with tokens while also pumping them into lethal beaters. With the help of Lingering Souls and Secure the Wastes we can amass an army that makes any player teriffied.

You all are probably wondering why on earth there is any number of Gideon of the Trials in this list since it has nothing to do with tokens. But this is pretty much the reason ive dubbed the deck Walkers instead of tokens. This Gideon is really really good. We are running 8 Gideons altogether which makes his ultimate really powerful. Especially alongside Gideon Jura . Most of you know probably already how this works. It allows you to plus Gideon Jura and force them to attack him and his massive loyalty instead of your other Gideon or you. Or any other Walkers you already have out. It makes combat a complete mess for any deck. This lock gives you way more than enough time to get ahead and STAY ahead.

The 1 drop slot is pretty important seeing as tho modern is a very fast format. You preferably want to be hitting a Oath of Nissa or a Utopia Sprawl on your first turn. OoN often will allow you to keep a one land hand if you can cast it. I find myself doing this way to often. (Shame on me). The card is just the perfect value for this deck. It grabs lands early and grabs threats late. It also make it so that we can use any color mana to cast Plainswalkers. Not super relevant on 2 colors....but hey...you never know. Utopia Sprawl gives us the black we need for flashing back Lingering Souls, while also ramping us into turn 2 Nissas and Gideons.

Path to Exile speaks for itself. Its the best removal in white and we'll need to rid ourselves of the occasional threat we cant have on the board.

Oath of Gideon is one of the coolest cards in the deck. It gives us tokens. Always a plus. But the text below it is pretty bonkers at times. At worst it a 5 loyalty Nissa out the gate. Not terrible. But were not gonna get to excited ever. At its best we get to Cast Ally of Zendikar and immediately ult him only he now survives to possibly start beating in for 6 or spawning 3/3 knights for us. This line of play is insane.

Elspeth, Sun's Champion is one of my favorite walkers and is insanely powerful in the late game. I am open fr pointers on a replacement here. The 6 mana Cost is usually to rough.

The only Creatures we run in the deck are 4 Wall of Omens and 1 Shalai, Voice of Plenty . Wall gives us a replacement card for value while also providing a big booty blocker for the low to the ground aggro decks. Shalai is a house when shes good and our biggest hose against burn. Ive rarely been able to activate her ability, but she is further protection for our walkers and our life total. oh, and did i mention no more mid and late game hand hate?

Sideboard

The sideboard is straight forward. All the good stuff. Damping Sphere for Tron, Ponza, and Storm. Stony Silence for Affinity and any of the Aether Vial Decks. Rest in Peace for Hollow One, Dredge, and now the great Ur Phoenix decks. Worship for creature decks, Humans, Spirits, and Collected Company Combo. Nature's Claim for pesky enchantments like opposing Worships and Blood Moons. Also Search for Azcanta. Beast Within is a catch all for permanents we have a hard time dealing with. Other walkers. Lili of the Veil. Its also blows up Valakut. Thrun, the Last Troll is for against any control decks.

I hope you enjoyed the deck tech. PLease upvote if you enjoyed. Open to all pointers and criticism.
