Attempt at a mono-black burn deck. Is it as effective as a mono-red burn deck? It gains life which may win a race against mono-red. Some interesting interactions of note: Bone Shards allows Alms of the Vein to be discarded, as do the blood tokens created by Vampire's Kiss. Vampire’s Kiss also provides artifacts for Deadly Dispute if no creatures are available. Vault of Whispers can also be used for deadly dispute in a pinch. Piranha Marsh? Why not? It makes black mana and burns the opponent. I find that the mana curve is low enough that the deck doesn’t suffer too much from having a land enter tapped to make the opponent lose 1 life. The cycling lands are there because they make black mana and aren’t a total dead draw when not needed. Also: Cast Down is pauper legal and very useful. How many common legendary creatures are there? According to gatherer there are 19 and they rarely see play.
