Top and Signet —Oct. 25, 2019

Finally got my hands on an Arcane Signet without paying an arm and a leg for it. I also took apart an old deck for parts and discovered I had a Sensei's Divining Top in there. Score!

Arcane Signet helps with mana fixing and ramp, obviously, to better ensure I can cast Jhoira sooner than turn 4. More mana rocks never hurt to draw into either, since cantrip-ing off of a mana rock means I still have some mana to use for follow-up draws.

Sensei's Divining Top is a powerful pseudo-scry effect that I can use to help weed out bad draws and dig towards my win-cons faster. It also allows an infinite draw combo with Mystic Forge + any cost-reducer like Etherium Sculptor. Tap Top to draw a card and put Top on top of my library, then cast it for free (thanks to the cost-reducer) from the top of my library using Mystic Forge's ability. Rinse and repeat. Pseudo-tutors by allowing me to draw as far into my deck as I need to get my win-cons or recursion pieces.

It's been getting harder to find pieces to cut for these recent improvements. In the end I decided to drop Shifting Wall and Memnite. Artifact creatures don't combo as well with my other combo pieces like Saheeli, Sublime Artificer or Firebrand Archer as well as regular artifacts do. Since Shifting Wall doesn't stay in play for 0 mana without a cost-reducer, that was an easy drop. Memnite was a bit harder, but in the end I decided that Ornithopter and Phyrexian Walker having higher than 1 toughness made them slightly more valuable to the deck than Memnite.

I've been playing practice hands a lot recently with all these changes, and I'm excited to get a chance to test out all these updates soon!
