shu yun (used to be elsha, and before that was narset)

adaptive, doesn't run out of steam (unless you get really bad draws), fun to play, political, budget.

in jeskai, "ramp" means hitting every one of your land drops. mana rocks are sauce. burn cantrips early game if you need a land, but not too many. card draw is the name of the game.

monks get pumped when you cast spells. so you need to cast a lot of spells and 1-2 monks. you can't go too wide with your monks because a board wipe will set you back (if you don't have protection in hand). and you don't have a ton of monks in the deck so each one counts.

so far, it wins with commander damage.

protection spells function as pseudo-counterspells and unblockable spells. kind of.

Cards I love to draw:

  • anything 1 mana that draws a card

  • protection

  • removal

Cards I do not love to draw:

  • nothing

might want more lifegain, more removal, idk

mulligan meter:

3+ lands + 1 draw cantrip: keep

2 lands + 1 mana rock + 1 draw cantrip: depends on rest of hand but you might be ok

2 lands + a bunch of draw cantrips: maybe but I'd be nervous

<2 lands: mulligan
