I absolutely love tribal <3

I've played this deck against my friends casually and I gotta say, the win-rate is pretty high. Granted, we all just play a mess of table top. One of my buddies strictly does standard, so playing against him is always fun and gets a real feel on how it would fair against other decks. Unfortunately I have not taken it to a tournament as I am a scaredy cat and always feel like I'm not good enough :c I'll get there eventually and hopefully crush some people with mah Sappy Bois. Without further adieu, let's get down to it!

Through playing, I notice that you kind of play this deck as you would a red deck. Be aggressive with your saprolings and smack their face. Use Fungal Infection early on to take out their tiny fodder and create yourself your little sappy bois. Saproling Migration is one of the best versatile cards in this deck making your bois at a rate of 2 or 4 mid-game. Thanks to our mana ramping with Itlimoc, Cradle of the Sun, Song of Freyalise, and Enter the Unknown, we can get into those kicker costs and of course poop out our Tendershoot Dryad and the big ole Verdant Force. Once these bad bois are out, there is almost no stopping the sappy boi generation. With the help of our good lord, Sporecrown Thallid and the city's blessing ability from Tendershoot Dryad, next thing you know, you'll have 12 sappy bois that are all 4/4's with many more on the way.
  • Having out either Itlimoc, Cradle of the Sun or Song of Freyalise allow you to do some pretty sneaky stuff with your sappy bois. Tapping your bois or the sun on your opponent's turn to slap out an instant or two (Spore Swarm and Fungal Infection) could change the game. Get out some instant blockers, kill one of their nuisance creatures, or even use the mana to tap and draw a card with Arch of Orazca. Then come your turn, just untap everything and ruin their lives!

  • This bad boi, Driven // Despair, is an amazing card in this deck. Being aggro, you're bound to run out of cards in your hand by the time you can play this. It gives you so much card advantage against your opponent when used correctly. The best time to use it would be when you have around 4-6 creatures out, which is hella easy with the sappy boi generation, and when you have 4 mana. Play Driven, and once it's in your graveyard, cast Despair. Now your 6 little 1/1's have trample, menace, and when you hit face, for each boi you're going to draw a card and they will discard a card. Just empty their hand while resetting your sappy boi onslaught.

  • Don't forget that you can use your Thallid Omnivore's ability at ANY time you want! Oh I see you are going to block my poor little sappy bois? SACCCC for that life gain and buffing of the omnivore. Plus, if you have ole Slimefoot, the Stowaway out at the same time, there's some more life gain and leeching them of 1 PER sappy boi.

The sideboard is mainly for protection. Previously stating that you play this almost like a red deck, you'll force your opponent to make some important decisions. Revert them with your enchantment removals, creature removals, artifact removals, or of course just keep them from doing it at all with Duress and Harsh Scrutiny. Fungal Plots is a nice card, but unfortunately I see it kind of slow during my plays. I tossed it in the sideboard in case you're up against a heavy creature removal deck. If they start throwing all your little fungi in the trash, just recycle them and poop out your ole trusty sappy bois. I have found that the best cards to sideboard out the flowing in order: 1 Slimefoot, the Stowaway, 1 Deathbloom Thallid, 1 Thallid Omnivore, 1 Yavimaya Sapherd, 1 Saproling Migration, and if you need any more, just go back in the cycle. But of course each game is different so adjust accordingly.

Let me know what you guys think, if there is any changes to main or sideboard, and of course if you find this deck appealing, I would much appreciate that upvote! Happy sapping!
