Tireless Tracker —March 4, 2018

After intensive and thorough playtesting, I sadly had to say farewell to Yavimaya Elder: may its super useful death trigger help many of you on your green journey to EDH victory! I found it to be the "least best" three drop in my current version of the deck, thus it was the only choice to take out, since I decided to include Tireless Tracker.

I didn't included Tracker at first. That was not because I thought it was too weak, but because having a huge creature in a multiplayer environment isn't something beneficial enough to justify its inclusion in the 99s. However, this card is G-R-E-A-T. at solving standoff situation and topdeck mode after the board has been wiped out one time too many. It is a great card draw engine and a perfect mana sink. I'm sorry that I haven't included it up to now!

At the moment I'm also testing a land card. If it is as good as I think it could be, I'll let you know through another update! Until then, see you all! I hope that dominaria will bring new bombs for Kamahl!

Hey bud. Ya got you a fierce list here. My only criticism, and you can ignore this if you like... How about a name?

A more interesting name would pull more people in, make your deck more attractive, and be something to joke/brag about with your group.

'I have all of the lands', 'Surprise, I have an army', 'Well I don't have mana problems...', something witty like that.

ZendikariWol all critics are welcome here :) I actually never thought about giving my deck a name. I always thought that the easiest way for people to find this list was to give it a clear and standard title. I'll think about a witty name and use it. Thanks a lot for the advice :)

No prob bob. I love being that snarky, witty kid. good consideration though, concerning the actual deck, Embodiment of Insight. Giving your stuff some blocking power is probably important with such a seemingly powerful deck; getting backswung is a real danger.

ZendikariWol I looked at Embodiment when it was released but all I saw was a way for my opponents to use their spot removal on my lands. It doesn't help the gameplan, since it's not through lands that I usually win. This deck doesn't require stopping power: the idea is to Overrun my opponents before they have a chance of killing me ;) of course this is not always possible, but that's the beauty of a multiplayer game.

Would cut Extraplanar Lens because with the high count of nonbasics I was constantly exiling the only copy in my hand and on the field.

I find lens to be very powerful. It never happened to me to have too few basics, especially considering the amount of ramp I play. What will you replace it for?

darklord1135 I tried caged sun but it's very slow and it costs too much. Gauntlet is not a good card IMO: we're in a multiplayer format, thus risking giving advantage to more than one opponent is not beneficial. That's why I use lenses, since it is less likely for my opponents (especially the ones using multi-colored commanders) to run snow-covered lands.

How's Worldly Tutor working out for you? I find Beast Within to be invaluable removal for monogreen, unless I'm in an extremely spells-heavy meta. Which I'm not.

For new cards in RIX, the only ones I can think of that could be useful are Thrashing Brontodon (good, but probably not necessary with Rec Sage), Wayward Swordtooth, and Azor's Gateway  Flip (because looting is awesome and the thought of Deserted Temple with the flip side is making Kamahl's Overrun button twitchy).

How is Growing Rites of Itlimoc  Flip working for you? I find that I'm constantly whiffing on the ETB and hoping to flip ASAP to make up for it.

I find rites to be very good! It is a good cantrip and to me it hardly goes blank. Furhtermore, I find the chance to have another copy of Gaea's Cradle to be of great value.

RIX didn't show me cards of any value whatsoever. Brontodon doesn't have an ETB, so I would compare it to a worse Qasali Pridemage. In the same line of reasoning, swordtooth it's just an awful Oracle of Mul Daya. I thought about azor's gateway but I'm still uncertain: the risk of losing a lot of cards when flipped (since commander is a removal-intense format) is very high. The looting ability seems intriguing, though.

I find worldly to be stronger than beast within. There is no way for us to tutor beast, while worldly can get us some useful creature to solve critical situations. But that's just my personal opinion.
