Padeem is an incredibly underrated commander. Giving your artifacts hexproof is a really powerful effect. If you start with one of the protection spells (Swiftfoot Boots or Lightning Greaves) or one of the cards that can make her an artifact (Silverskin Armor or Liquimetal Coating), she takes off incredibly quick. The deck also does pretty well without her with its' sheer draw power. Venser's Journal without Padeem is really good and with hexproof, it gets even more out of hand. Plenty of ways to win in this deck and the consistent card draw provides us with the gas. A hexproof Precursor Golem is really fun. So are Wurmcoil Engine, Platinum Angel, Darksteel Juggernaut, and Myr Battleshere. An 11/11 hexproof for free? sure, drop Metalwork Colossus and swing away. The deck is really mana hungry, but it hasn't been much of an issue for me since I'm running a fair amount of ramp. Chief Engineer is incredible with the high artifact creature count. Drop a potentially hexproof Caged Sun or Blinkmoth Urn and make tons of mana to use for your big beaters. Use Karn, Silver Golem to turn unused rocks and other artifacts into big beaters. If for some reason you are having trouble making artifacts stick, drop a Faerie Artisans and if your opponent plays a creature, then you're guaranteed to activate Padeem, not to mention the copies that Artisans make will have hexproof. Overall, I have had so much fun playing this deck. It is fairly light on recursion and removal, but I think letting people do what they want sometimes is part of what makes EDH a fun format. Sometimes with this deck though, opponents won't get the chance to do what they want. Feel free to comment or make suggestions on additions or removals. I'm sure I've thought of most and some cards are excluded simply because I don't have them. I originally used some of the colossus': Blightsteel Colossus, Darksteel Colossus, Platinum Emperion, but I realized they aren;t really needed and bring the curve up a little higher than I wanted it.
