Verdant Crescendo

Sorcery

Search your library for a basic land card and put it onto the battlefield tapped. Search your library and graveyard for a card named Nissa, Nature's Artisan, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library.

Verdant Crescendo might be a good addition to this. It doesn't give you the energy but you can search your library for the planeswalker as well as mana.

I ran Verdant Crescendo in a Nissa deck I built a while ago. It's not good unless you run the correct Nissa with it (which I did). Otherwise, you may as well be playing Explosive Vegetation or Ranger's Path.

I tried it out a bit. This deck really gets under the opponent's skin.

The main problem I had with it is that it tends to string games out really long without any kind of a finishing blow. You occasionally get a threat out but the opponent can usually squeeze through a control spell. I lost a couple games where even though I had destroyed a dozen lands, a single Pilgrim's Eye would get me over a dozen turns. I might want to try adjusting the deck a bit to have Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger and some more ramp support like Shrine of the Forsaken Gods or From Beyond. It might be nice to get in a Hedron Archive to help trigger delirium for the Deathcap Cultivator.

Another oddball mana dork that might be useful is Conduit of Storms  Flip. It's not a turn two drop, but it's much better at combat and still helps you get your land destruction spells out if you're missing a fourth land.

Looking through the standard card list, Verdant Crescendo + Nissa, Nature's Artisan would be a crazy ramp combo no one would see coming.

I dunno. Wizards don't want land destruction decks to be a thing, so sure it's going to be hard to make them work.

I agree. I won't run the hermit either, cause he sucks in the aggro wolf stretegy. I like to let my guys flip and then use the recruiter on their end step. I have been trying to see what works the best in that regard. I will post a list in a few days for a pretty awesome nissa deck you might like. There is a card Verdant Crescendo that lets you fetch her whenever, but it has to be the crappy precon one. The idea is to run Servant of the Conduit and Permeating Mass and overwhelm the opponent with Nissa, Voice of Zendikar putting out counters. The whole deck costs maybe $60 but if you have some of the cards it would be a lot less. Surprisingly I have won a bunch of standard constructed events at my lgs with it, mainly because there isnt a whole lot that can be done to combat the strategy. I will make sure I throw the list up when I can, but if you toy with it I bet you could make a deck for gameday that would take your opponents off guard. I will say that the planeswalker deck Nissa, Nature's Artisan is underrated. Her-4 is her only purpose. You cast do the-4, and most opponents will just kill her right away. You cast Verdant Crescendo or Greenwarden of Murasa and get her back do it again. Most people don't realize they are wasting time killing her to focus on your life total. Card advantage is king, and ramping off her is amazing. Do remember you can only have 1 nissa in play at a time. I say this before writing the deck list so if you or anyone else is interested they have a chance to pick up a few copies, I run 3 but 2 would be fine. Do not underestimate how good she is. You trade a card for at worse 2 lands(so Explosive Vegetation ) or you get a land and a card, or 2 cards. But repeating this 2-4 times in a game is devastating. Nissa's Renewal is another rare that we run, as well as Void Winnower, Desolation Twin and Reality Smasher but for budget reasons you can replace smasher for Endbringer and it works just fine. May take a day or 2 but I will post the list and link it when I can. In the mean time continue smashing face with the werewolves.

Nissa, Nature's Artisan is really good if you run Verdant Crescendo as well. I have an all nissa based standard deck and her-4 is just too good.

I think Wild Wanderer is better than Verdant Crescendo as it gives you a creature immediately instead of a 6-drop you probably can't cast the next turn.

I like trying to turn on Dragonmaster Outcast, but I think you need more than 22 land to do it. And I'd probably want all 4x Blossoming Defense to help protect them. Swell of Growth may be a good combat trick too, provided you increase your land count to at least 24.

You're probably never going to flip Village Messenger  Flip, so I'd also look at replacing that. Maybe something with landfall like Makindi Sliderunner, Snapping Gnarlid, or Valakut Predator would be a great 3 before a 4drop that gets you a land.

Good luck!

@Shwang, @DriftWood96: Actually my friend, the crazy answer is YES! Nissa, Vital Force is a far better card that does not serve much of a purpose in this deck. Nissa, Nature's Artisan does and here is why:

  1. The low mana curve of the deck allows me to freely pay 6 mana for her in a winning position and even in a losing one. She is an amazing wall if nothing else.
  2. Her minus ability could potentially double proc Tireless Tracker on the second turn she is out allowing for all the mana to be spent on more card draw and more +1/+1 counters.
  3. Lifegain is a sub-theme in this deck given the Heron's Grace Champion lifelink grant. Gaining life has saved me from losing and I even came back by the 3rd turn after I played her and won the game thanks to a draw on Collective Defiance.
  4. Due to the creature protection, unless my opponent can cast a spell to remove her (which does happen and usually eats a turn), I have reliably popped her ult to win twice just this morning in two different games. She is very hard to kill. Killing her makes you harder to kill cause you can just gain easily 6 to 12 life before it happens just to stall your opponent out.
  5. If they do kill her, Verdant Crescendo just puts her right back in my hand for more shenanigans. Sure its a costy sorcery but the land gain also works with Tireless Tracker. It gets a little silly.

Overall, I'd say every one of her abilities perfectly fit a niche into what this deck does as a whole. The only worries I ave are late game board wipes, but I side board 3x Eerie Interludes just in case.
