I love Zada, Hedron Grinder one of my first few decks I built because it was budget friendly but still packed a punch. The removal that is available to you because of zada is actually pretty fun you can gang up on a single target with all your creatures: Go for Blood, Soul's Fire, Arcbond,Commando Raid, Deadshot, Swift Kick.

Also like Ramble said you can use steal effects and sac your opponents creatures to cards like Goblin Bombardment or Barrage of Expendables or your classic Phyrexian Altar. The good thing about the steal cards are you can use them on your own creatures to untap your board or give haste while they also serve to steal.

A few I'd recommend although I personally don't use them:

  1. Kari Zev's Expertise: Free Cantrips for the price of one!
  2. Hijack: Artifacts why not
  3. Harness by Force: Average but with Battle Hymn it has potential to be a budget Insurrection
  4. Bond of Passion: Pricey but with six goblins on the battlefield its like you're casting six Shocks
  5. Besmirch: Goad is good
  6. Traitorous Greed: Can be used for ramp
  7. Malevolent Whispers: Pump your team or steal

Looking at your decklist we more or less have the same cards which isn't surprising Zada is a pretty linear build if you do goblin tribal, but if you break away there are a couple fun things you can do such as Chaos Warp your entire board. I would cut Dualcaster Mage and Reiterate as they don't do much for Zada because Zada already does what they do but for free. Also Birgi, God of Storytelling  Flip is great.

Have you thought of adding Fire Diamond , Prismatic Lens , Fire Diamond , Star Compass , Ruination , and By Force ? You could remove the Traitorous Greed , Enthusiastic Discovery, Goblin Rally , Underworld Breach , Birgi, and Dwarven Mine .

Yes, Zada, Hedron Grinder 's ability will trigger twice, and you'll end up with two copies of Traitorous Greed for each other creature.

If I cast something like Traitorous Greed on Zada, Hedron Grinder with Veyran, Voice of Duality on the field, do I copy it twice for each creature?

Hey, DiretheKingEternal, thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely slot in Unleash Fury, and as for Traitorous Greed, it's another ritual. Personally, I love 'em, they're what make enough mana for your combo turn, but if you don't like them, all the more power to ya. Thanks for commenting!

Azdranax on Useful formulas for deck building

Interesting topic Ramble, I've been meaning to respond for the last day or two but have just been super busy, but let me provide a mana base formula I stumbled on a few years back after noticing a pattern in my deck building - might be something to try out and see if you find similar results, as I find it's very rare to get either flooded or mana screwed using this formula. I'll provide a couple of examples as well - more for the casual-competitive decks, as my cEDH decks don't always follow the formula as rigorously.

The basic formula for mana-producing lands is: Starting base of 30 mana-producing lands, plus additional lands equal to the CMC of your commander, plus additional lands equal to the average CMC of the deck, minus designated values for each mana rock, mana dork, mana spell and draw spell equal to or less than the CMC of the commander.

The first example is for my Zada, Hedron Grinder deck: Yada...Yada...Zada. In this case, the formula is 30 + 4CMC (commander) + 2.28 average CMC, or 36.28. I then subtract designated values for the following cards in the deck: -1.0 for Mana Crypt, -0.5 for Sol Ring (or any other 0 or 1 CMC rock), -0.25 for Thought Vessel (or any other 2 or 3 CMC rock), Battle Hymn, Brightstone Ritual, Traitorous Greed and Dockside Extortionist, and finally -0.10 for each of the draw spells in the deck: Accelerate, Boiling Blood, Crimson Wisps, Expedite, Fists of Flame, Stun and Renegade Tactics for a total reduction of 3.45 and a final value of 32.83 (rounded up to 33).

The second example includes a more aggressive reduction in mana-producing lands based on my Elf tribal Marwyn, the Nurturer deck: Elves Tap and Slap (Marwyn Tribal Counters). The formula here is 30 + 3CMC (commander) + 2.64 average CMC, or 35.64. I then subtract for the following cards: -0.50 for Sol Ring, -0.25 for Elvish Archdruid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Gyre Sage, Incubation Druid, Llanowar Elves, Llanowar Visionary, Priest of Titania, Rishkar, Peema Renegade, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, Viridian Joiner, Wood Elves, Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, Nissa's Pilgrimage, Rhonas's Monument, Gaea's Touch and Growing Rites of Itlimoc  Flip. Finally, I subtract -0.10 for Elvish Visionary, Llanowar Visionary and Inspiring Call for a total reduction of 5.30 and a final value of 30.34 (rounded down to 30).

Although the reduction values could be considered a little arbitrary in certain deck concepts, this formula has held pretty accurate since I started keeping track of it. I hope you find this useful in the future, and happy brewing.

Bolo33 I likeSatyr's Cunning as well. I need to slot it in somewhere. I also just got to thinking Essence Scatter seems kind of weak. I decided against the other two because of the mana cost associated. For Traitorous Greed it would take 8 mana. Claim the Firstborn is a little faster but still a turn 5 play at best. Which I was thinking at that point I think The Akroan War is just better. Im testing on Arena right now will update you in a bit.

I love this deck idea! I would, however, replace a few things, just if it were me. Satyr's Cunning is probably a good thing to add in. It is a far cheaper way, mana-wise, to generate a token creature to exile for Transmogrify. Claim the Firstborn also is another way to steal creatures, or perhaps Traitorous Greed would be more helpful on a larger creature. Although I still love The Akroan War. Experimental Overload is actually a great idea here, too. Only problem I would foresee is that with a deck like this, the resulting Weird could actually be larger than the 8/8 whale in many cases. But be sure to tell me what you think of next for this deck!!!
