Tradewind Rider Discussion

Cho-Cathal-ic on Hub suggestions

I was trying to find the right hubs to put on a pauper deck with Shared Discovery and Stonybrook Schoolmaster , when I realised there was no hub for any tapping synergy decks, like Opposition and/or Tradewind Rider decks, or for Convoke decks for that matter.

Would you consider Tradewind Rider too slow for the deck? It used to be one of my faves back in the day.

I would agree that having zero counterspells seems odd for a monoblue deck. Being able to protect your combos at crucial times seems in keeping with the gameplan. Mystic Confluence could easily be subbed in for Concentrate and still be able to draw the same number of cards plus have the ability to bounce attackers, counterspell and have the card draw castable at opponent's endstep [or whatever mix of the 3 you want/need] for only one more mana.

Counterspell , Negate , Swan Song and Disallow could round out a reasonable permission suite without becoming oppressive for the table.

Seems like a neat deck that would be fun to play.

Found one. Tradewind Rider. One last question. What 6 cards to cut for the legal 100, including Tetsuko? Think about this for a bit...

Birthing Pod is obscene with Derevi. Her abilities allow for 2, or even 3 activations in a single turn. Tradewind Rider, Archivist, Arcanis the Omnipotent, and Roon of the Hidden Realm are also excellent, because you can stack multiple triggers on them, and then respond to each trigger with their ability.

Eldrazi Displacer, Roon of the Hidden Realm, Mistmeadow Witch, Crystal Shard, Dissipation Field, AEther Adept, Reflector Mage, Man-o'-War, Tradewind Rider, Vedalken Mastermind, AEtherize, AEtherspouts, Evacuation, Cyclonic Rift, Devastation Tide, Deputy of Acquittals, and Brago, King Eternal are just a few suggestions.

Be wary of Eldrazi Displacer because he requires colorless mana to activate. Sounds like a cool idea with a bunch of ETB effects on your creatures so if your opponent is creature lite you will still be effective. Lavinia of the Tenth would be a cool general that would be obnoxious to go against. Especially against a deck that utilizes a bunch of mana dorks. Also good for the mirror match. Deadeye Navigator is a total must. I know someone else mentioned him, but if you do get him on the board he's so broken. Another idea would be to play Mimic Vat having recurring creatures of you or your opponents sounds legit.
