For non-basics (couldn't find a single fucking island btw) there's Animal Sanctuary, Arid Mesa, Castle Ardenvale, Mountain Valley, Survivors' Encampment, and Thalakos Lowlands

Generally, I would rank the mana lands lands into a couple different tiers (within these tiers there might be some striation--this is just a general overview).

At the top are your original Duals, like Tundra for obvious reasons. They enter untapped, they can be fetched, and they have no downside other than being nonbasic lands.

The second tier are your shock lands, like Hallowed Fountain . These can be fetched and have the option of entering untapped, though there is a slight downside. The downside, however, is mitigated some by the fact it only has to be paid once.

The next tier are the lands that enter untapped but have a downside or other restriction to use. These include your filter lands ( Skycloud Expanse , Mystic Gate ), check lands ( Glacial Fortress ); pain lands ( Adarkar Wastes ); etc.

There are a couple lands that enter untapped that I would not include in this tier, such as mana batteries ( Calciform Pools ) or lands that have restrictions on their being untapped ( Thalakos Lowlands ; Land Cap ; etc.).

Finally we get to lands that enter tapped. If you are on a restrictive budget, you can use these, but you are going to have significant problems with hitting your curve. Ideally, everyone in your meta will have a similar mana base, as otherwise you will be perpetually a turn behind in terms of mana generation.

The tri-lands would fall into this lowest tier. While having three colours is nice, they are still too slow for all but the most casual of tables. There are plenty of decent rainbow options, such as Mana Confluence , that would be a preferable choice.

First off, welcome to Magic!

I am going to second Poly_raptor with regards to lands. Glacial Fortress is well worth the investment. It's the best UW (U means Blue in Magic, since B was taken by Black) land in Standard, quite viable in Modern, and works well at casual, kitchen table games. So long as you are playing decks with Blue/White, having a playset of Glacial Fortresses is not a bad thing.

I also agree that your deck needs a bit more focus. To expand on that some, it's best to start by picking how you want to win--let's say it's Tezzeret, Cruel Machinist making creatures 5/5s, and using them as powerful beaters. All your cards should support that plan. You'll want 3-4 copies of your easy-to-cast cards, and 2 copies of your expensive-to-cast finishers. You're in Blue, so you have good access to card draw, ensuring you can find the cards you need.

So, without going into too much depth, here would be my thought process for Tezzeret:

  • He is expensive to cast, so I need to ensure I survive long enough to play him. Some counterspells will help with that.
  • I'd want some easy-to-cast aftifacts, preferably with low mana costs. If rotation was not occurring soon, I'd say vehicles were a good choice--they often have low costs but great abilities, making them highly efficient to animate with Tezzeret.
  • I'd want some card draw. Opt is a fantastic choice.
  • I'd want other cards that have synergies with artifacts - Sai, Master Thopterist seems a good choice, particularly if you have a lot of low-costed artifacts.
  • Finally, I'd consider the other decks I would expect to play against, and make adjustments and a sideboard based upon those.

That's sort of some basic deckbuilding advice. To provide some more deck-specific analysis, neither Tezzeret, Cruel Machinist or Ajani, Wise Counselor are great cards. Their casting costs are far too high for what you receive. As a general rule, anything that costs 5+ mana should win you the game on the spot, cripple your opponent, put you vastly far ahead, or have a built-in method of surviving to the next round. I do not think the effects provided by either card justify the costs required to cast them.

Also, just for your reference, here are the cards Poly_raptor suggested that are not Standard-legal:

Pull from Tomorrow is currently in Standard, but will no longer be in Standard starting October 10, 2018.

Hey,

I’d suggest a better land base. Woodland Stream could go as you don’t have any in here, it’s all and .

Some lands you might want to consider are Sejiri Refuge or Thalakos Lowlands as these are budget

If you want to spend more then consider Glacial Fortress

There also seems to be a lot going on with not much synergy. Usually I will pick a theme of my deck and build it around that. and decks usually are very good at controlling the game and not letting your opponent set up theor game plan and then grinding out a win.

If you want to theme at around one of your planeswalker then have a look at which you think is your favourite and build around that.

Of the two, I quite like Tezzeret, his ultimate ability allows you to put a lot of 5/5 artifact creatures into play, so cards that allow you to draw cards like Pull from Tomorrow or Blue Sun's Zenith would work very well with him. Also increasing your hand size with cards like Spellbook would be good.

Some of the cards I’ve mentioned above aren’t playable in the format you’ve listed this deck in but I thought I’d suggest them to give you an idea of how it could work.

I hope you found this useful :)

Thalakos Lowlands could and should be replaced with Flooded Strand as well

Considering how many colorless cards you have, you might be able to get away with playing "slow-lands" for fixing (I'm not quite sure tho, but it could be Worth trying out) :Thalakos Lowlands/Cloudcrest Lake

Splashing Blue also lets you play cards like: Vedalken Engineer, Etherium Sculptor, Riddlesmith and Vedalken Infuser or even Filigree Sages for a very awkward way of generating infinite mana with Astral Cornucopia.

I'm not sure how good the Tectonic Edge is here, unless you run into "Tron" 24/7, could be Worth taking out for more consistency. Likewise the Radiant Fountain can be replaced with more solid mana (slow lands maybe? ;P) and something like Golden Urn
