As an additional cost to play Tendrils of Despair, sacrifice a creature.

Target opponent discards two cards.

Spark Harvest is another Bone Splinters , with upside. Tendrils of Despair might be worth investigating on this sort of plan as well...

I think you should run more graveyard hate, especially towards graveyard recursion decks like Muldrotha. Cards like Withered Wretch, Relic of Progenitus, or even Tormod's Crypt can help out a lot. Something I might suggest to take out would be Winter Orb. It just seems out of place in this deck. You don't have any way to manipulate it to your will. What if someone taps it on your turn? If that happens, only you would get screwed from your own card if someone then untaps it before your next turn. Old, just a suggestion.

You might even need more discard in your deck. Tasigur's Cruelty is a lot better than Tendrils of Despair because late game you just get rid of what you don't need from your graveyard and you don't need to get rid of a creature. Plus, each of your opponents discard 2 instead of just 1 person discards 2.

Also, I think Traverse the Outlands is a little weak in this type of deck. It's a great card sure, but more in like a Selvala, Heart of the Wilds type of deck where power matters. For the most part, you just have low power elves besides a couple of them, so Traverse the Outlands can be kind of a waste if you cast it early. I would suggest replacing it with Perilous Forays. It's great in this type of deck because you're creating multiple elves, which in turn create much more mana down the line.

Hope this helps!

Zealous Persecution is good and surprising in decks like this, maybe in place of 2x Essence Extraction as you should be ahead in board anyways and be the aggressor. Also Funeral Charm/Putrid Imp is faster than Cryptbreaker for Haakon and the Charm is a good toolbox otherwise too. Tendrils of Despair could also be considered for its disruptive element, as you can bring them back through Haakon. There are plenty of nice cards for this build but these are what came to mind :)

Hey, just a few ideas I use myself...I hope they help.

One of my favorites for something like this is Sewer Nemesis...not only does it boost the crap out of your creatures...but its a crap monster!

A strong card in any deck like this is: Gnaw to the Bone I cannot tell you how many times this one has saved my butt in a similar deck play.

Also, for a great deal of control from the grave, I would suggest adding at least 1 of each: Vengeful Pharaoh and Genesis (Perhaps in place of your doomblades)...

I would personally prefer Dawntreader Elk to the Birds of Paradise simply because it has potential to boost both land and your creatures from the grave...but its ultimately up to you.

One card that can deliver a death-blow from a deck like this is: Haunting Misery, but I wouldn't go overboard (Learned that one the hard way)...not modern or standard legal...but neither is Tendrils of Despair a great alternate to one you already play.

And if you feel like smashing the piggy bank...Crucible of Worlds (This can be strong in conjunction with things like Walking Atlas or Skyshroud Ranger...Or perhaps Groundskeeper would work better than all of this and save you a little cash...

Not sure how well red jives with this deck. I personally play something similar with blue (for the hand filter) but go out and find what works for you! I hope I helped and didn't just confuse you more.

Have you considered using some less CMC heavy discard spells like Hymn to Tourach or Tendrils of Despair or Whispers of Emrakul or Wrench Mind. I feel like it would help your early game a bit. You could also use less swamps if you played Liliana of the Dark Realms islnstead of Liliana Vess and since you don't really seem to need her second or third ability to much and her first ability is pretty redundant based on the rest of the cards in the deck it would probably play smoother with the dark realms version. Another enchantment I might suggest to add to the constellation effect and give you an edge is Liliana's Caress and the older Megrim also for additional ramp Cabal Coffers and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx which unfortunately aren't swamps themselves so you can't fetch the out but they could count as swamps with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. So you can still capatilize on them. Just a few thoughts. I also play several mono black control decks if you would like to check them out. Like the concept of yours and the use of Dark Deal seems very strong. Plus the "draw back" of Master of the Feast actually seems like a decent synergy for you. Nice job.

You draw the entire deck and either proceed to play an infinite mana combo or play Sickening Dreams.

You can sub Sickening Dreams with Tendrils of Despair if you dislike dying with the rest of the group. :)
