legendofa on What do you want more …

Can I offer something I'd like to see less of? There's been a huge surge of five-color legendary utility creatures. More than half of all legendary creatures with a WUBRG color identity have been printed since 2020, and it's starting to feel like there's a best option for everything. Why limit yourself to Sythis, Harvest's Hand or The Master of Keysfoil when you could have Go-Shintai of Life's Origin and just include them anyway? Kenrith, Returned King and Sisay, Weatherlight Captain simply do things with pretty much no opportunity cost.

I'll grant that they're tending toward a tighter focus. But sometimes, I don't want or need access to other colors, but the five-color's simply the best available option. I chose Enchantress up there because I've been waiting for a Enchantments commander for several years now, and other color sets have a couple of options. But five-color enchantments has two more options than Naya enchantments, and that frustrates me.

Caerwyn I'm going to poke at the hybrid rule here, since I see it as "letter of the law" vs. "spirit of the law". Sheldon Menery clearly took the "letter of the law" approach, in that Mourning Thrull is both fully a black card and fully a white card, and can't be used in an deck alongside Minister of Impediments. Similarly, the Minister can't be used in a deck.

However, the "spirit of the law" says that Sungrace Pegasus, Hushbringer, and Sky Crier can all be used in a deck, and Ballynock Trapper and Zhalfirin Decoy can be used in a deck. So it's an arbitrary decision that makes mana function differently in Commander-based formats than in any other format in the game. Further, cards like red enchantment removal and green one-sided board wipes, both self-avowed mistakes, are reasonably common. Why should an arbitrary restriction from decades ago allow overt color pie breaks while prohibiting extremely neutral cards that simply use effects available to more than one color?

I'm sure you've seen these arguments a million times by now. So I'll ask a different question. Are there any hybrid-mana cards that you see as being color pie breaks, that do something that one of their colors is fundamentally not allowed to do? The most frequent examples I've seen are the counterspell Guttural Response, which is a total break on the scale of Pyroblast for both colors so neither color should get it, and Augury Adept granting life gain, which I believe is undercut by Sugar Rush. (There's a counterargument regarding repeatable life gain in there.)

A slight ulterior motive for that last paragraph: One of the things on my gimmick to-do list is to try to build a pseudo-Commander deck that actually uses hybrid mana to break the game and do bad things. My current starting angle is Leyline of the Guildpact + Bloom Tender in mono-green or green + one other color. So if you have any thoughts, please send them over!

Alright!

Aegis Angel is a good card, don't get me wrong, but currently given the low number of Angels in the deck as a whole and with no Angel tribal, it might be worth looking into Avacyn, Angel of Hope or, some more budget options, Indestructibility, Gift of Immortality, Kindred Boon, Shielded by Faith, Spirit Bonds, or Timely Ward. All of these grant a single creature indestructible for a lower cost, albeit they are not attached to a big flier.

Nothing for Ajani's Pridemate. It's just a good card. If you're interested in other similar cards, Light of Promise, Archangel of Thune, Gideon's Company, Cleric Class, Heliod, Sun-Crowned, Cradle of Vitality, Celestial Unicorn, and Nykthos Paragon are some good ones.

Archetype of Courage seems a bit weak to me personally. Enchantment creature cards with the same mana value that are white and better for your deck (at least from my POV) include Eidolon of Countless Battles and Heliod, Sun-Crowned.

Banisher Priest is good.

Blinding Souleater could easily be replaced by Law-Rune Enforcer, or, if you'd prefer an artifact creature, Burnished Hart is just better in general.

Captain of the Watch and Cataclysmic Gearhulk are both good cards, though the latter doesn't seem to work too awfully well with your deck. I would consider putting in another destroy boardwipe such as Wrath of God or Fumigate.

Chardalyn Dragon is pretty bad, even for an artifact flier. Other fliers with the same mana value include Adarkar Valkyrie, Admonition Angel, Ancestor Dragon, Angelic Skirmisher, Archon of Coronation, Aven Brigadier, Empyrial Storm, et cetera... white is ton of amazing fliers! Put 'em to good use! XD If you specifically want an artifact creature to replace it, Wurmcoil Engine is a good one.

Consul's Shieldguard... see the Aegis Angel comments.

Court Street Denizen... see the Blinding Souleater comments, though this one is better so it's definitely worth keeping around if you want.

Drillworks Mole is a cool card. Basri Ket, Felidar Retreat, and Cathars' Crusade are good too.

Eldrazi Devastator is actually a card I used to run in my decks as a finisher. I would recommend something like Finale of Glory as an alternative that you can really sink your mana into.

Felidar Cub is nice, but War Priest of Thune is strictly better.

Glint-Sleeve Artisan is interesting, and I see how it plays into a bit of your artifact synergies, but if you want that, just use an artifact creature like Adaptive Automaton, Cloudsteel Kirin, or Etched Champion.

Heliod's Pilgrim has a good effect and it's flavorful, just keep in mind you only have two Auras in the deck.

Inspiring Overseer and Knight of the White Orchid are good.

Kozilek's Channeler is a decent card, but given you like small creatures I'm not sure that paying extra for a big body is a great benefit. Worn Powerstone, Thran Dynamo, Arcane Signet, and if you want to splurge Pearl Medallion are all good ramp in white.

Lagonna-Band Elder can be replaced by one of the cards I told you about in my previous comment.

From there, all your cards are great until Soulmender, which again can be replaced by one of the cards in my previous comment, or even Fountain of Renewal. Same with Stone Haven Medic and Sungrace Pegasus.

Toolcraft Exemplar is a really cool card that I have NEVER seen before. If it's working well for you, you should try out Serra Ascendant as well. It runs in a similar vein.

Welcoming Vampire is good too.

Celestial Flare could be replaced by Silence.

Dauntless Onslaught could be replaced by Charge, Bastion Protector, Benalish Marshal, Ethereal Guidance, Glorious Anthem, Guardians' Pledge, or Path of Bravery.

Divine Verdict could just be replaced by plain removal, like Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Journey to Nowhere, Cast Out, Conclave Tribunal, or Oblivion Ring.

Feat of Resistance is nice.

Gideon's Reproach - see Divine Verdict's feedback.

Gods Willing is good.

Kill Shot - see Divine Verdict's feedback. Actually, for the rest of these cards see that and Dauntless Onslaught's feedback.

Aligned Hedron Network is good.

Cloak of the Bat and Hero's Blade - see Dauntless Onslaught's feedback, but also Commander's Plate.

Spidersilk Net doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If you want another 0-mana artifact, look no further than Mishra's Bauble.

Font of Vigor - see previous comment

Siegecraft - Eldrazi Conscription is one of the best auras in the game, but Battle Mastery is nice too

Not Forgotten - Rest in Peace, Ashnod's Altar

Sunlance - any other removal that I've mentioned

Also consider Sphere of Safety.

I hope all this helps! ^^" it took a bit to write up but I think it'll help introduce you to some staples and ways about thinking about deckbuilding and power level. I sent you a friend request so that we can keep in touch and so that I can see and help you with your future decks!

So, ur deck is kind all over d place, no offense. U decided wat u want ur deck 2 do, but not How (+1 counters vs enchantments, win con etc) and some cards haver no place in there (some odd ones R d Soul's Attendant (fits swarm strategy better), Rhox Veteran (needs swarms and .. i really dont like dat card lol) and d Arcbound Mouser (needs other artifact creature 4 it's ability), Rising Populace (outclassed as far as cmc goes, and ia more of a aristocrat card)and u lack evasion (only d princess may avoid some blockers. Ill assume u want a more direct aggro strategy. Lets focus on creatures first, Sacred Cat os quite Nice, even better agains removal heavy, Healer's Hawk is another 1cmc slot and adds evasion. At d 2cmc u can fill with some 2/2 lifelinkers (LL) (there r some Functional reprints of Ajani's Sunstriker If u want other models and Sungrace Pegasus 1/2 flying LL. On a heavier cmc u can consider Seraph of Dawn as a finisher, a 2/4 LL with flying is Nice. u could consider ETBs pumpers like Dawnfeather Eagle so u can hit and still keep ur defenses up. On d +1 counter profit u could consider maybe Ainok Bond-Kin giving ur creatures with +1/+1 d first Strike ability. I would drop d enchantments pumps since u wont b protecting ur creatures. As Far as removals Go, 8 cards should b enough i Guess. U could use Oblivion Ring or Journey to Nowhere and Sunlance , there r some other Fun options like Weight of Conscience . I would also drop Battlefield Promotion , Moment of Triumph and Wanderer's Strike . Shoulder to Shoulder could be paired with Unbounded Potential for some card draw. White doesnt have dar many card advantage maybe Revitalize could help u 2, and drop 2 Idyllic Grange 4 2 Secluded Steppe . Dis r Just some random thoughts, d most important is 2 have Fun. Oh, and when starting a New deck, think about d rules of 4 (9-10 different non-land cards, 4 copies each so u can reproduce more consistent outcomes )

21- Plains 4 - Sungrace Pegasus 4 - Knight of the White Orchid 4 - Aerial Responder 3 - Ajani's Pridemate 3 - Fencing Ace 2 - Stone Haven Medic 2 - Gideon's Company 2 - Twinblade Paladin 2 - Impassioned Orator 4 - Desperate Lunge 4 - Gideon's Reproach 3 - Riot Control 1 - Ajani, Inspiring Leader

Any help would be appreciated; whether cards need to be replaced or maybe even going multi-colored instead of mono white.

Maybe try Nyx-Fleece Ram, Orzhov Basilica, Staff of the Death Magus, Staff of the Sun Magus, Soulmender, Sungrace Pegasus, or Serene Steward

Using Serene Steward you can trigger its mana ability to buff every time you gain life. I use Athreos, God of Passage in my Orzhov deck as my commander

Most of these aren't standard legal but if you're just playing casually or looking for a commander deck

Check out Sungrace Pegasus. Might be a good quick drop to add. They cost a quarter each.

Just some cool removal and cheap guys with good abilities to play before Odric. There's tons of other stuff I'm not thinking of.

@wonderboyrox

First of all, thanks for the many tips! It's good to find cheap cards to help out the manacurve. I already heared of Knight Exemplar, but I also really like Silverblade Paladin, especially for the Soulbond effect, so I guess, I will definitely switch out Faithbearer Paladin and Abzan Kin-Guard. What I'm not sure about yet, is for once Sungrace Pegasus. I was thinking about taking him out too, since he's no horsetype, but the cheap flying would be useful aswell. Also have to see if I replace Healing Salve/Healing Leaves with Spirit Link or the proposed Leyline of Vitality, since I wanna keep atleast one of the instants.

I will take a look at all the possible changes tomorrow and then try to upload it for a first time.
