Sproutback Trudge
Creature — Fungus Beast
This spell costs less to cast, where X is the amount of life you gained this turn.
Trample
At the beginning of your end step, if you gained life this turn, you may cast this from your graveyard.

A card's "mana cost" is specifically the symbols printed in the upper-right corner of a standard Magic frame. Sproutback Trudge doesn't have in its mana cost, so it doesn't interact with Zaxara, the Exemplary.
As written, Zaxara only triggers when you cast a spell, not when you activate an ability. It doesn't interact with Polukranos, World Eater.
Commander tax applies every time the commander is cast from the command zone. Zahid, Djinn of the Lamp has an option for an alternate casting cost. If you use the alternate cost to cast Zahid from the command zone then the commander tax will apply, as will any other casting cost increasing/reducing effects.
The commander ninjutsu on Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow is an activated ability (you can see in the reminder text it's written out as "[Cost] : [Effect]", the standard formatting for activated abilities). If you use it, you're not casting the spell, so commander tax and any other casting cost increasing/reducing effects won't apply.

Sproutback Trudge doesn't affect Zaxara, the Exemplary. The Trudge has a cost-reducing ability, not an in any mana cost. The mana cost for the Trudge is .

Im creating a Zaxara commander deck and was curious.. Been looking around and can't seem to find an answer at all. If anyone could provide their insight, I'd greatly appreciate it. Would Sproutback Trudge proc Zaxara, the Exemplary ? It is still a mana ability. If it did, then would it proc for the reduction amount? I'd say it seems feasible but I might be missing something.

For a lifegain Strategy, I always love to see Aetherflux Reservoir, which may a bit pricy, around 20 or so dollars, but can kill most opponents if there not playing life gain. I think a problem in this deck is that there are a lot of cards in here like Bulette and Green Dragon where their effects can be useful, but don't contribute to the Life gain/Ramp strategy. Ageless Entity and cards like Ajani's Pridemate can also help out with getting creatures big by gaining life. I'll just put a list of cards that benefit from having lands enter the battlefield and by gaining life Sproutback Trudge, Ezzaroot Channeler, Verdant Sun's Avatar, Pulse of Murasa, Venser's Journal, Emeria Shepherd, Beast Whisperer, Nissa, Voice of Zendikar, Scute Swarm, Ajani, Mentor of Heroes, Ajani, Wise Counselor. Hopefully this helps in making this deck have a better win % and making it more fun and a bit more aggresive. If you still have any questions, just comment on this and i'll try to reply to it.

Generally, this is a pretty great idea. It feels like you want to do many things, though.
Sproutback Trudge wants you to gain life. It combines nicely with Ghalta and Belt, as it's a pretty big creature. But then, there's Avatar of Might, which doesn't care about lifegain, but instead wants a big enemy boardstate. For that, you included Squirrel catapult, which again doesn't synergize with the rest of your deck And this seems to be one tangent too much for the deck to run smoothly. My suggestion is to drop these eight cards to add in some combination of Ezzaroot Channeler, Trudge Garden, Essence Warden and Feed the Clan.
As Tower of Eons and Natural Spring are terrible cards, you'd have 14 slots. As replacements, I'd go with four Essence Warden, four Ezzaroot Channeler, two Trudge Garden and four Feed the Clan.
If you want to play removal, maybe adding in some copies of Primal Might would be good. It is a useful fight spell that fits nicely into a turn where you want to cast Ghalta on top of destroying a creature.

Essence Pulse is a great boardwipe for this kind of deck. Trudge Garden and Sproutback Trudge are also for things to put counters on.

Hey Walrighti, +1!
Congrats on your first deck! You have a lot of fun cards in here and it looks great! I imagine you want to tune and make it even more efficient so here are some ideas...
Add 3 categories: #Combo, #Lifegain, and #Evasion; and then sort your maybeboard the same way you've done your mainboard to easily rank your choices within a category (By "combo" I mean all your "if-then" cards like Trudge Garden that are slower and don't work by themselves). Remove #Creatures (most of them are #Combo).
Avoid most cards above 4 cmc... Willowdusk is fast and fragile, so play into that... Also, prioritize cards that can do 2 or more things or that give value on ETB... If you have pet cards that don't really fit and that hurt to cut, put them in a "I'll build that theme later" list.
-1 Pelakka Wurm
-1 Ezzaroot Channeler ... cut the fatties.
-1 Decree of Pain ... too slow
-1 Bow of Nylea ... meh
-1 Jarad's Orders < Diabolic Tutor
-1 Sangromancer ... amazing card but doesn't trigger when you need it to.
-1 Venser's Journal ... also amazing, but too conditional for this build
-1 Ranger's Path ... all your ramp should be on turn 2
-1 Temple of the False God ... this card is almost never good
+1 Devoted Druid ... this card is a beast
+1 Talisman of Resilience ... #Ramp
+1 Llanowar Elves ... #Ramp... the elves enable Willowdusk combos on turn 3.
+1 Viridian Joiner ... #Ramp... #Combo
+1 Boompile ... its a gem (hint: don't tap it on your turn) +1 Nightmare Unmaking
+1 Killing Wave
+1 Massacre Girl ... #Wipe
+1 Beast Within ... #Removal
+1 Golgari Charm ... #Evasion
~1 Rancor ... Trample and haste are important... #Evasion
~1 Destined ... the choices are really good.
+1 Soul Channeling ... #Combo with Willowbark and stick to the board...
~1 Phyrexian Processor ... fun?
~1 Lurking Evil ... maybe?
~1 Solidarity of Heroes ... #Combo
~1 Ooze Flux ... tokens at instant speed?
~1 Retribution of the Ancients ... removal?
+1 Thought Gorger ... (leaves)
+1 Return of the Wildspeaker ... #Draw
+1 Triskelion ... #Combo
+1 Nighthawk Scavenger ... #Fatty
...Always play at least 10 ramp spells under 3 cmc.
...Playtest and make sure Willowbark consistently makes a fatty (with evasion) before turn 6-7.
Here's another Willowdusk thread.
Happy building :)
