I prefer Nebelgast Herald over Shacklegeist. I run 4 Neblegast and 2 Shacklegeist.

Pro's are that it can be cast at flash speed and that it doesn't require you to tap anything (and reduce your number of blockers) in order to activate it.

Con's are that it's more expensive to cast and you need to be able to cast spirits to activate it. That being said, if you're not casting spirits you're probably in trouble anyway.

The pro's of Shacklegeist are that it's cheaper, it has a higher toughness and its ability is repeatable when you're empty handed (or devoid of spirits).

The con's are that it only blocks fliers and that you have to tap out two spirits to activate it (reducing your ability to block).

I also like your inclusion of Path to Exile. I'm still for it as a hard removal spell (despite popular opinion), I only use 3 in the side though as I also have the 4 Skyclave Apparition in the main.

Hi Kazierts, for this deck you could exploit two spirit's ability:flying and "tap ability". I advise you three cards: 1)Hidden Strings with evasive creatures it's really strong,a dark ritual in blue color 2)Verity Circle with Nebelgast Herald,Shacklegeist and Hidden Strings it's a incredible motor for draw cards. 3)if you don't like it the "tap mode" if you utilise Military Intelligence for draw cards, work very good with flying's creatures. I utilize this cards in my deck Unblockable Pezzent!,maybe in your deck this cards they work even better ^^

I love the name.

Some comments:

You don't have a single one drop/turn one play, other than Vial. That's definitely a big tempo loss. Jabberjaw46 mentioned Mausoleum Wanderer for the sideboard, which is a good suggestion, except I strongly think you should put all 4 copies of it mainboard.

Supreme Phantom is an amazing card. I'd up it to a playset.

Honestly, I've always been lukewarm about Geist. Yes, it is a hard to remove threat that can win games on its own, but the creature itself has no evasion, plus the angel token that's created isn't a spirit so it doesn't benefit from our lords.

I think you might be going a bit overboard on the removal and counterspells. I like that the deck is a bit more controlly than most UW spirits which makes it a little more unique, but if you add too many of these other spells it makes it harder for you to churn out enough creatures and lords and make full use of Vial. I'd just straight up cut the Mana Leaks. 4 Counterspells total feels like the highest I would go, since you also have 4 Queller (2 Counterspell 2 Force of Negation seems like a good split to me). Same for removal, you have 4 Apparition so I'd cut down to 4 removal spells tops as well (whether you keep path or on thin ice is personal preference I guess). Removing these will give you space for Mausoleum Wanderer and more Supreme Phantoms.

In case you want more spirits, Rattlechains and Shacklegeist are two that I like. Cemetery Illuminator is a new card that looks interesting for the sideboard, doubling as grave hate and CA engine. Guardian of Faith is nice as a one of in the sideboard against wipes.

Glad you like Skyclave Apparition its a great card that has served me well. I like Shacklegeist personally as it can help you stall a few turns to get that win. I haven't played much spirits since MH2 though so I'm not sure how it is at current. Spectral Adversary doesn't impress me much. Unless you have a vial it's 4 mana minimum for a meh effect imo. If you are trying to protect your creatures add more Selfless Spirits it's far cheaper mana wise. Or you could even go with Kira, Great Glass-Spinner if you're really worried about target removal. If you're trying to phase out your opponent's stuff you can already deal with most threats with apparition, pte, Spell Queller, or shackle. If you wanna try it out I'm sure it'll have its moments but I suspect most of the time you'll wish you had something else.

Thank you Balaam__, but I cant take credit for it. Nikachu Merfolk master, basically suggested this build on a recent episode of his show based off of a build one of his viewers was running. Just working on the sideboard, and Shacklegeist & Lofty Denial for possible inclusion.
