Reyav, Master Smith Discussion

legendofa I feel as though it would be pertinent to allow for the abilities of one's commander to be added to the drop-down automatically--I ran into the same issue as B0NGUS with my Reyav, Master Smith deck

Hiya! Long time Boros player here.

From the looks of things, it seems like you're going with the equipment build of Wyleth over the Aura build, so I have a few thought and suggestions to give.

1) Since you're focusing on equipment, I would suggest cutting all of the aura stuff. Wanna make sure your deck synergizes with itself, harder to do that when you have two different halves, ya know?

2) In the equipment build you have to worry about paying for equip cost (with the benefit that equipment doesn't go to grave when the equiped creature dies, unlike with auras). I thus recommend running as MANY free equip cards as possible. You have an Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist in your maybeboard. I recommend putting that straight into the deck- it'll be a card you want to see every game. Other cards like Brass Squire or Zirda, the Dawnwaker will be nice to have.

3) Wyleth is absolutely crucial to protect, so I recommend playing more cards to protect him. Mother of Runes is a pretty cheap one to have. Sejiri Shelter  Flip is one that can double as a land. There are also more expensive ones like Giver of Runes , Deflecting Swat , and Flawless Maneuver .

4) Wyleth will likely be the only creature that you're suiting up to get max value, so I recommend running cards to support him that don't also need to be equipped. Koll, the Forgemaster is a new one from Kaldheim. Reyav, Master Smith is another good one.

Salve Oloro! Glad you’re digging deeper into this wonderful format. I would posit that you could have a lot of fun with a Boros Aggro-y type build—-the colors are a little restrictive but that just breeds creativity :)

Some fun options are Akiri, Fearless Voyager , and Reyav, Master Smith . Have fun whatever you build!

Omniscience_is_life- Thanks for the input. I've decided to try a lot of the changes you mentioned. I have added Charging Tuskodon , Fiendish Duo , Halvar, God of Battle  Flip, Reyav, Master Smith , Mind Stone , and Teferi's Protection .

I decided to drop Godsend , Toolcraft Exemplar , Tajic, Blade of the Legion , Worn Powerstone , Commander's Sphere , Ajani, Strength of the Pride , and finally Talisman of Conviction .

I have added some cards to my maybeboard that I may try to add in at some point.

My deck's boardwipes already have Austere Command , Blasphemous Act , Divine Reckoning , Single Combat and my personal favorite Tragic Arrogance .

Thanks again for your wonderful suggestions!

Three-mana rocks are almost never ideal, and even though Worn Powerstone and Commander's Sphere are some of the better ones I still suggest you cut them.

Replacement options are Mind Stone , Thought Vessel , Wayfarer's Bauble (not a rock, but a damn good card!), and Fellwar Stone .

Ajani, Strength of the Pride is an excellent card, but given that 1. if your commander gets in for damage your opponent should already be dead--and the rest are to come--and 2. if your commander has not gotten in for damage then Ajani doesn't kill anything. And then you're up a creek.

I might consider replacing him with any number of the boardwipes in your colors ( Wrath of God , Blasphemous Act , Austere Command , etc).

Tajic, Blade of the Legion can certainly get on for a lot of damage with Your Commanders in play, but I question his worthiness, given that dependance.

If you want a creature that'll swing for many, many points of life... look no further than Charging Tuskodon . If my math is correct, giving this beautiful Dino doublestrike and triple damage, he'll hit for 48 damage (a lot).

Similarly to Tajic , I believe Toolcraft Exemplar might be too low-impact. Maybe, in it's stead, a Reyav, Master Smith / Halvar, God of Battle  Flip?

I might forgo Flickering Ward in favor of a Teferi's Protection --it's one of the best catch-all protection spells, hard not to want.

Prowler's Helm could probably be upgraded to Trailblazer's Boots .

Love the deck, keep it up! Excited to see where it goes in the future
