Joe9 on Phenax, God of Milling
I almost forgot about the untap symbol! With a little open mana, each of these cards would untap for another round of milling. These tricks also help a lot in combat. They work simply. When Phenax is out, tap these creatures on your turn and leave a little mana open. If an opponent attacks you, you can use your open mana to untap these creatures and block with them. If no one attacks you, then use your open mana during the last end step before your turn to untap these creatures and tap them again for their milling. Then, begin your turn. In reponse to blocking an opponent's attack, you can tap these creatures AGAIN for more milling before damage is dealt. How cool is that?!
Probably the best card in this category, is Knacksaw Clique. When you activate this untap ability, you get a free spell! How cool is that?!
Puresight Merrow trades one blue mana for the ability to "scry" 1 and mill for another 2.
Umbral Mantle eats 3 mana for another round of milling with any creature you control.
Pili-Pala takes 2 mana in exchange for 1 mana and milling 1 card.
Merrow Wavebreakers untaps for 2 to give it flying and let it mill another 3.
Merrow Grimeblotter works great for lowering the damage you might be dealt during an opponent's attack.
Leech Bonder can move counters around, including the -1/-1 counters from it to something else.
