Maul Splicer

Creature — Phyrexian Human Artificer

When this enters the battlefield, create two 3/3 colorless Golem artifact creature tokens.

Golem creatures you control have trample.

Mortlocke on New hubs to be added

Hello legendofa,

I propose a new hub to be added: Phyrexian. During Modern Horizons 2, 225 creatures were retconned into having the Phyrexian creature subtype to join Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider . Additionally, there were a smattering of Enchantments, Artifacts and etc that ether have the Phyrexian subtype or create creature tokens that do. Thanks to this retcon I now have a deck that has a Phyrexian tribal theme. For your reference, below is a full list of spells that were affected by WotC's Phyrexian errata.

You were right in suggesting Maul Splicer zapyourtumor. I played some games against a deck that could keep up moderate aggro for the entire game without running out of steam, and Belfry Spirit only bought me a couple of turns of living. Maul Splicer is worse in terms of defense, yes, but this deck doesnt want to be defensive in the first place. I think I'll include a playset of splicers and get rid of Belfry Spirit s

Belfry Spirit has a lot of small advantages. It provides evasion and, in a pinch, blockers against flying threats. If game goes on for long it can be hard casted since it only requires white mana. Finally, Haunt mechanic gives it a chance to produce two extra bat tokens. All in all I prefer Belfry Spirit to Maul Splicer

Sekki, Seasons' Guide is not that good on its own, since its just a single target to be removed or bounced. The token producing ability is powerful, but its hard to activate without cards that make creatures fight or damage themselves

Belfry Spirit seems pretty weak for reanimation payoff. How about Maul Splicer or Sekki, Seasons' Guide ?

I actually made an entire deck around this concept that works surprisingly well. Steve Argyle is a particularly great resource for this topic. In addition to Liliana of the Veil and Chosen of Markov  Flip, he's also done Deadly Allure , Guul Draz Vampire , Naya Battlemage , and Night Revelers . Other notable artists are Jason Chan ( Deathpact Angel , Fires of Undeath , Kiora, Master of the Depths , Mayael the Anima , Maul Splicer , Treasured Find ) and Volkan Baga ( Elspeth, Knight-Errant , Korozda Gorgon , Stoic Angel , Student of Warfare ). I ended up going with vampires + knights and some other cards I included are Hero of Bladehold , Knight Exemplar , Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts , Elenda, the Dusk Rose , and possibly the most ridiculous piece of Magic art ever created: Soul Collector . Some cards that came close to making the cut are Angel of Despair , Bloodflow Connoisseur , Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief , Knight of Dusk , Magister of Worth , Avacyn, Angel of Hope , Vampire Hexmage , and Veteran Cavalier .

Other cards that I like (sorted by type) include Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch , Lyzolda, the Blood Witch , Kemba, Kha Regent , Sunspear Shikari , Elvish Champion , Gaea's Herald , Quirion Dryad , Nimbus Naiad , Dreamborn Muse , Mistral Singer , Shipwreck Singer , Siren of the Fanged Coast , Akroma, Angel of Wrath , Archangel of Strife , Basandra, Battle Seraph , Razia, Boros Archangel , and Ire Shaman . Looking at this list now, it's clear I've spent far too much time researching this subject.

This two might come very handy cos they boost golems: Vital Splicer and Maul Splicer . If you like golems maybe you can try to change the parnter adding another color so you can play cards like Blade Splicer .

See you around, nice deck friend <3

To Thegloomyg:

To be honest, I didn’t even think about “blink/bounce” cards. Most of my recursion occurs through graveyard interaction with Feldon of the Third Path and Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle. However, Eldrazi Displacer is a dumb card. Eldrazi Displacer+Krark-Clan Ironworks+Maul Splicer will grant me infinite . With the deck's mana base, I can easily activate Displacer outside of the combo. Thanks! Once I find a cut, I’ll throw it in.

I agree with the suggestion for Rebbec, Architect of Ascension or at least include her. In no particular order: They are reprinting Three Visits, which is strictly better than rampant growth. Nature's Lore is good too. Cavalier of Dawn can be used on your own artifacts. Guardian Idol is a good ramp card early and doubles as a Golem. Land Tax is rarely going to be worth it in a green land ramping deck. Maul Splicer is expensive, but trample is good evasion for decent sized golems. Sensor Splicer gives vigilance. Vital Splicer gives the ability to regenerate for 1. It's not great, but is another creature you can bounce for more golems. Ichor Wellspring is a great target for both self destruction and recursion, in case of opponents having no artifacts to destroy. Arcbound Reclaimer for ensuring you get a good draw. Ancient Stone Idol for a really big boi. Ancestral Statue can replay splicers or get rid of bad auras. Also you have a lot of stuff like myrsmith, palladium myr, and I think those might be better served by a couple more treasure/clue/food generation cards. Treasure Map  Flip, Prying Blade, or Tireless Tracker, Ulvenwald Mysteries, or Gilded Goose (replacing Avacyns pilgrim). Any decent equipment, but especially a Bloodforged Battle-Axe. Maul of the Skyclaves, Heirloom Blade. Swords are good. And as always: Lightning Greaves Swiftfoot Boots Skullclamp Running a bunch of basics is always cheaper, but if you have a couple of bucks consider the following mostly budget additions. Homeward Path Scattered Groves is cheap and fetchable. Gavony Township for more counters. Gingerbread Cabin for an artifact with your land. Krosan Verge/Myriad Landscapefor mana fixing ramp. Command Tower because it's better than a basic. Path of Ancestry because the splicers are all human. Evolving Wilds/Terramorphic Expanse/Fabled Passage Blighted Woodland Sungrass Prairie Opal Palace
