On Dominaria, at least, I always assumed the angels were pretty females because they were made (for the most part) by and in Serra the Benevolent's image...a pretty female. I guess most other planes followed suit simply because we spent, still, the vast majority of Magic's history on Dominaria and people decided to follow suit.
For Malach of the Dawn, I actually got a chance to ask the artist why he went with not only a male, but a man of color for the angel (both elements in contrast to most angel designs thus far). He said that Wizards gave him a lot of freedom for the design, since it was a generic angel and not a named character. And it's what he just felt like doing at the time.
Demons are often monstrous because horns, fangs, and claws are an easy visual representation of corruption/twisting of virtue, which is what they are usually metaphors for (classically speaking). And that traditionally means 'evil'.

Optimator: Malach of the Dawn is definitely male. and amonkhet is described as a plane with male angels.

I was just thinking about this the other day to balance out all the babe decks I see flying around. Great list though I would include Malach of the Dawn but that's just me.

These are angels you could add
I think you could take out Emancipation Angel, Illusory Angel, Guardian Seraph, Indomitable Archangel, Lightkeeper of Emeria, Malach of the Dawn, Seraph of Dawn, Avenging Angel, Herald of the Host, Patron of the Valiant, Dawnbreak Reclaimer, Archangel, Angel of Salvation
I also think you could cut some lands, 38 is a good number. Bant Panorama, Seaside Citadel are good to add back in
Harsh Mercy seems good as well
you have very little enter the battlefield effects, maybe add Torpor Orb or Hushwing Gryff
It seems like your heavy hitters are 4 mana and up, so i think your ramp should cost less than 4. This way you're not decieding betweenn casting an angel or ramping for other angels. Maybe cut Explosive Vegetation for Rampant Growth. you could cut Belbe's Portal and Quicksilver Amulet for that same reasoning. You could add Simic Signet, Selesnya Signet and Azorius Signet for more ramp as well
Maybe cut Caged Sun for Mirari's Wake.
I think you need some card draw as well. maybe Rhystic Study or Distant Melody, Zendikar Resurgent
You could run some anthems to pump your team as well, I think Door of Destinies could be really good in this type of deck
Lurking Predators is the Quicksilver Amulet type effect you want i think. maybe take out Selvala's Stampede for it?
DemonDragonJ on Why Are All Angels Female …

Angels and demons are my two favorite creature types in this game, but I have noticed that angels in this game are always female and demons are always male (with rare exceptions such as Lady Orca or Malach of the Dawn), and I wonder why that is.
As a heterosexual male, I certainly have no problem with angels, powerful beings of light and holiness, having the forms of attractive women, but the implications that such forms, as well as the forms of demons, make are very unfortunate, indeed. A casual viewer could infer that WotC is implying that women are more saintly and virtuous, while men are vile and sinful. I am not saying that I believe that, or that WotC is deliberately sending such a message, but, as a male, I feel that WotC should be more careful to about what they portray in their stories.
Also, as a result of all demons being male, there are no succubi in this game, which is unfortunate, as succubi are frequently seen in fantasy stories; not only that, there are no incubi, the male counterparts of succubi, in this game, either. While demons in this game certainly do tempt mortals, the temptation is rarely portrayed as seductive, which, again, is an otherwise common element in fantasy settings.
What does everyone else say about this? Why are all angles female and all demons male in this game?
Also, as a side note, if angels and demons are not capable of normal sexual reproduction, why do they have sexual characteristics? Should not they all be androgynous, since they would not need to have such traits?

Malach of the Dawn is a plane shifted Ghost Ship showing an alternate present. In that present there's male Angels. So I don't think he counts.
