NTakamura on Consistent card draw in izzet

I am looking to improve my card draw for my flash/Flicker Dragon deck using Renari, Merchant of Marvels and Dragon Cultist I feel like I have a good amount of ramp but I struggle with consistent card draw. The only ones that I have that can really help that I have so far are Icon of Ancestry Iymrith, Desert Doom Kindred Discovery Loch Dragon Rhystic Study Vanquisher's Banner If there are more cards that can help with some good card draw I am love the suggestions. The deck list is below

Well, if we're going to look at the rules and draw our own conclusion; from the official commander website:

"A card’s colour identity is its color plus the colour of any mana symbols in the card’s rules text. A card’s color identity is established before the game begins, and cannot be changed by game effects. The cards in a deck may not have any colours in their color identity which are not in the colour identity of the deck’s commander."

So a Proud Wildbonder should not be allowed in a Rakdos deck, because the cards in a Rakdos deck may not be green. Clear as day. Allowing hybrid mana cards in off-color decks violates the definition of color identity in the most unintuitive way. Loch Dragon is clearly a card that's both blue and red, intuitively, the blue prevents it from being included in a Neheb, the Worthy deck. Allowing it anyway would break the fundamental rule of commander deck building. Not in a gameplay way, I'm not afraid of broken combos being enabled by the change.

But if you'd have a peanut allergy, you wouldn't eat a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich, even though you love jelly.

Omniscience_is_life: it's not confusing though. the masses are just not very bright. and honestly, idk why you're being so difficult and just so..."extra". i personally don't see why you're making this out to be so much more complicated than it actually is. what's so hard about saying that the color identity of Loch Dragon is red and blue, but amending the rules to say it can be played within mono colored decks? you do realize the issue was never the cards color identity, but rather the decks it can be played in right? hence why i brought up what decks could play the card in the first place. dang dude...

Erza420 from what else can we extrapolate data and general consensus than the masses? If people are confused about something, it is ergo confusing.

Let's go back to the hypothetical question at hand: "What color identity is Loch Dragon ?" And now, I invite you to answer that question. Please don't reiterate what you've already said, as all I want to know is basically one or two color words.

Omniscience_is_life: i never said "less" confusing, but it wouldn't be "more" confusing either. and how is regeneration NOT simple? the next time the creature would be destroyed that turn, it's not. pretty simple so far. then the creature gets tapped. still simple. and finally, the creature is removed from combat. again, pretty simple. i've only ever seen 1 person get confused by it at fnm. if someone asks what the color identity of Loch Dragon is, and assuming hybrid were allowed in their respective mono colored decks, it's not hard to figure out what to tell them. you tell them it can go in mono red, mono blue, or any deck with both red and blue. so far i havent seen anyone say that hybrid mana should be allowed in just any deck that can cast them. so to me, seems easy to say that Loch Dragon can go in mono red, mono blue, or temur for example, but not rakdos or simic.

Erza420 Lutri effectively costs 6, actually, with the companion errata.

Please inform me as to how you think this swap would be in any way less confusing than the current rules (and while you're at it, how Regeneration is by any means simple).

The main issue seems to me to be this: what happens when someone asks what Loch Dragon 's color identity is? Do you say that it's either Blue or Red? Do you say "depends on the deck"?

However you arent running many instants or sorceries. For them to be good you need a much higher density of spells (20+) to make them cheap.

For casual and for dragons you probably want more Thunderbreak Regent or even Loch Dragon as Drake will rarely be bigger than a 2 or 3 power.

19 lands isnt enough either. You are a 23-24 land deck for sure.

I would suggest upping Dragonlord's Servant to 4 copies and also adding Sarkhan, Fireblood.

Also, maybe playing some dragons with lower CMC like Loch Dragon, Sprite Dragon, Thunderbreak Regent, maybe even Slumbering Dragon.
