Horn of Plenty

Artifact

Whenever a player plays a spell, he or she may pay (1). If that player does, he or she draws a card at end of turn.

Necrosis24 love it! But we have to stay janky with the budget so I can throw in Hired Giant (I LOVE HIM), Hypergenesis & Gate to the AEther. Weird Harvest is definitely going in.

Peoyogon Well of Ideas & Horn of Plenty will get slots. I know that Prosperity can go off late game with all the mana available and could be a neat kill spell!

Dads are proud of both of you. ♡

If you want to bring the deck cost down to fit something else, Mana Cache is a cheap, not-quite-as-good replacement for Mana Flare . I was actually surprised to see Mana Flare in your deck with your $$ target.

I really like Seizan, Perverter of Truth in group hug, but it's $$$.

Mass Hysteria is also one of my favorite group hug cards, but is similar in $$$.

Horn of Plenty is a cheap, common group hug include.

As for what you get remove, I like Humble Defector in 1v1, but not multiplayer. Depends on your meta. I'm not convinced Undying Evil is adding enough value with the rest of your deck. I love curses in group hug, but Curse of Vengeance is probably one you could go without.

You've got a lot of mana utility artifacts, but none of the true group hug artifacts. Ghirapur Orrery is a cheap group hug card. Horn of Greed is a better card, but Horn of Plenty is much cheaper. Otherworld Atlas is nice because you control how much value it adds and can look to use that in politicking. Temple Bell tops $1, but it also fits.

As for removals, I'd drop Price of Progress . I'd drop Sylvan Reclamation in favor of Broken Bond - cheaper and you need that removal to be quick. You are running every possible signet, but you don't need the reds and blues as much because your curve is half the size there. Some of those could go.

Stardragon on Why is Library of Alexandria …

PlatinumOne Since when is 3 mana a high casting cost particularly in EDH? The only example that was more than 3 was Horn of Plenty . And so what if the other instants and sorceries can only be used once they have no drawback or conditions tacked on like Library has. Now i have no deck that needs the card but im just wondering the reason why they keep banned in EDH. And reasons so far are really weak. Like it'll break the format

IAmTheWraith Okay it can be the comboed fine, but there are faster and better infinite draw combos without having the whole needing exactly seven cards in hand tacked on and none of those are banned. As for the mana acceleration what acceleration? It enters untapped and taps for one colorless. So does Archaeological Dig, Cascading Cataracts, Eldrazi Temple, Gods' Eye, Gate to the Reikai, and basic Wastes and with the exception of Archaeological Dig they have more utility tack to them. And I don't think it would be in every deck if it was unbanned that what everyone says about any banned card. I don't see Protean Hulk in every green deck even though he was unbanned and everyone said he would be. And a free card advantage in every deck really thats just wrong. I have at least 6 decks alone that wouldn't get the free draw unless it was in my opening hand and unless you stack or cheat it not possible to get in every opening hand. Plus not every deck will have it, and even your combo needed blue and green to make it work. What about a mono white deck or a abzan or jund deck they can't make that combo work. And as stated above unless you have blue or to a lesser extant black, drawing is limited (though every color has a some draw true) so keeping 7 cards in hand would unrealistic. And even though they have a price they are plenty of better draw cards, Pull from Tomorrow, Lifecrafter's Bestiary, Horn of Plenty, Horn of Greed, Ponder and Opt just to name a few.

MagicalHacker on Official MagicalHacker Commander List Update …

Welcome, fellow planeswalkers, to the Official MagicalHacker Commander List Update (OMCLU) for Commander 2017!

If you are not aware, I have had lists for commander staple effects for a very long time now, and I have been updating them as new sets are released. Unlike other staple lists that showcase individual cards that are commonly used (which http://edhrec.com does better anyways), I instead use these lists to show all cards in categories that have proven to be advantageous to have in Commander. More specifically, these categories of staples are ones that answer certain problems a deck could be experiencing, such as having a hard time against control, not being able to play cards in hand quickly enough, or dealing with problematic commanders. (The full list can be found on my profile.)

The purpose of this thread is three-fold:

  1. To raise public awareness for these lists (which I know to be extremely useful since I use them more than literally any other resource online when building decks), especially for the newest additions to them.

  2. To receive feedback about C17 cards that should be added/removed from lists, as I am only human and make mistakes too.

  3. To receive feedback about older cards that should be added/removed from lists. I'm surprised how many times I miss cards when they should be included.

Commander 2017 is up on Gatherer, so its now time to go through the process of updating my decks! (Sorry for the delay, I was working through some technical difficulties.)
