Well, since you asked I think this deck looks good for casual, but coming from someone who hasn't played legacy in a decade it's way too slow for it even back then. That being said, I like it for sure.

Ensnaring Bridge is a reasonably strong lockout card, and I could easily imagine hearing "Oh it's that deck" at the kitchen table. I also love the creative use of Sonic Burst. Some things you could easily (and cheaply!) upgrade. Lightning Bolt is simply the best red card ever, every red deck would be better with 4 of them. Bolt also comes in a slow version Chain Lightning.

I love Lava Axe, but even back in the day it was never a great card. If you happen to get stuck on 4 mana (it happens) it's going to be a dead card in your hand, same with Flame Wave. This deck definitely doesn't want cards in its hand, so we could think about Flame Javelin or Fireblast if we're trying to keep it old bordered.

PS: Also Embermage Goblin

Made several changes recently to improve the deck. Nivix Guildmage was replaced with Ral, Storm Conduit, who does the same thing without ongoing mana costs. The number of Enigma Drakes has been increased to 4 to take advantage of the large number of instants in the deck. Primal Amulet  Flip was replaced with Dual Casting, which provides copy-power much faster. Flame Javelin was also added for situations where the deck needs a little more damage, such as sniping planeswalkers or finishing off players. Experimental Overload was added as a late-game play to take advantage of casting.

Roast might be your best option. Flame Javelin could be helpful too. Combust is good if its blue or white creatures. Collision / Colossus or Crushing Pain or Spitebellows Are all decent choices

StopShot on Should snow CMC spells show …

@enpc, While you do have a point when it comes to the differences between colorless and snow mana, the same can still be said for spells like Flame Javelin and Beseech the Queen . Both of those spells are listed as triple red or triple black on tappedout, but any kind of mana can be spent into them. Snow mana spells are more restrictive in comparison to those hybrid spells, but less restrictive than colorless-required spells, so I don't think mana restriction should be what qualifies the legitimacy of having snow mana listed on the color wheel or not.

I like the splash of black for some extra life loss! Some more notable cards to consider:

  • Fireblast: To squeeze out those last drops of damage when tapped out.
  • Eidolon of the Great Revel: You'd be amazed by how many strategies this hoses. If you're racing, this can be surprisingly damaging.
  • Hell's Thunder: A flying damage spell that comes back to surprise your opponent if they've forgotten about it.
  • Flame Javelin: Sometimes you just need one extra damage. Also hits creatures.

Imminent Doom is a weird card to play around with. In an EDH deck you'd definitely get value out of it. Here... probably not so much.

Wizard's Lightning would be more consistent damage. Kari Zev, Skyship Raider, maybe. Fanatical Firebrand, Zurgo Bellstriker, Thunderous Wrath, Searing Spear, Incinerate, Flame Javelin, Collateral Damage are all fun cheapish burn spells and doods. Reverberate+Insult would just be brutal but you'd need the mana to pull it off.

I like what you're trying, I'd just probably take out the imminents.

great suggestions. thanks. ill think about them, but here is why im not doing it now: Flame Javelin is 6 cmc, so it has synergy with Eidolon of the Great Revel. also, this deck is so consistent, there is never a need to even mulligan.

Ramunap Ruins is interesting, I played a long game against a counterspell deck, and i had 5 lands out, and one in my hand.. he was returning my creatures to my hand, so i played the lands to cast the creatures of course. I won, and it is very rare to play that many lands, and that many turns.. but it can't be countered. the only reason not to put it in is to keep the extra life sometimes. that is a theme of this deck: to avoid paying life on lands.

I would not mind fetch, but the paying the USD and life to get a fetchland that doesnt slow you down? I doubt the measurable improvement they would make to this deck.

using all mountains, and some Dragon's Claw, makes me stronger in the mirror match.

Worship is a problem, but Leyline of Punishment and Volcanic Fallout generally kills pro red creatures.. there is a mediocre chance of getting both, but the game will be relatively long, and no one has 4x Worship right?

Anger of the Gods and Rampaging Ferocidon are great suggestions.. I had them both in there for a bit.
