Firefist Adept

Creature — Human Wizard

When Firefist Adept enters the battlefield, it deals X damage to target creature an opponent controls, where X is the number of Wizards you control.

Firefist Adept has an incorrect creature type, it should be 'Human Wizard', but currently is is listed as 'Human'.

This is my first commander deck I got a few months back and have built it up slowly but am in dire need of help finishing it. I know it is slow and probably bad but I like it and it suits me just fine. I like how it can focus on the graveyard but the only strategies I have for it is the Duskmantle Guildmage and Mindcrank set and the Sphinx's Tutelage. I want to focus it on wizards mill where my wizards can help me use my graveyard getting back my instants and sorceries that help mill and draw using Sphinx's Tutelge. Other creatures can be added like Consecrated Sphinx but i'd like for creatures to be mostly wizard. Any help is appreciated.

Hey! Cool deck you got here! First thing I notice is you need just a little bit more consistency. Opt is very good to help you with this, so you've got that covered. Personally, I'd drop Firefist Adept for more Opts. Although Naban will make the Adept more useful, you're not running many creatures, and coupled with that, you only have two of them, so the odds you'll get to draw him are particularly low. Additionally, Divination isn't too helpful in my opinion. Yes, you draw cards off of it, but it doesn't do much to advance your board state, for this reason Chart A Course is much better as it's less prohibitive, and leaves more mana open for your opponent's turn. Entrancing Melody is better off as a sideboard card IMO, in decks with smaller (or no) creatures it won't be very impactful. By removing these cards you can free up space for some more playsets of non-legendary creatures, which will make you a lot more consistent with your draws. I'd also see about adding in some Sulfur Falls to make your land base more diverse.Academy Journeymage is worth considering, as you'll often be able to cast if for cheap, and Naban will let you bounce two creatures. That's some value. One last thing I'd consider is Magma Spray for dealing with The Scarab God and Rekindling Phoenix which are two very big threats in standard right now. All in all, cool deck, I love seeing Wizards!

I like it. We're running somewhat similar lists. Same land count, almost identical instants.

I would suggest running a fourth copy of Adeliz, the Cinder Wind because I think she's gonna do some serious work for us in U/R Wizards.

One of my concerns with your build is you're not going to get much value out of Naban, Dean of Iteration until atleast turn 5 when you can cast Firefist Adept or a turn 5 instant + Naru Meha, Master Wizard. Until you can make use of his ability, he's just a 2/1 body that you're not gonna be attacking with because his ability is useful in later turns.

I like the build though! Good to see another Izzet mage.

Some of these leaked Dominaria cards look amazing for this deck. Naru Meha, Master Wizard is a legendary 3/3 wizard for 2UU, and it has a +1/+1 wizard anthem, has flash, and acts almost like a Reverberate on ETB, except it only copies your instant or sorcery. Wizard's Retort is flavorful, and is exactly the same as Counterspell, but only if you control a wizard. Merfolk Trickster could be cool, a 2/2 merfolk wizard for UU with Flash, which on ETB, taps a target creature an opponent controls and makes it lose all abilities till end of turn. Naban, Dean of Iteration is everything this deck wants in life. He's a 2/1 wizard for 1U, and acts as a Panharmonicon, except only for wizard ETB effects!!! Ghitu Journeymage is a 3/2 wizard for 2R, and when it ETB, if you control another wizard, it does 2 damage to each opponent. Lastly, Firefist Adept, a 3/3 wizard for 4R, does damage to each opponent equal to the number of wizards you control on ETB.
