Sultai_Sir on How's Kaldheim Looking to You? …

In my humble opinion, Kaldheim is looking like an amazing set. We haven't gotten any broken things, but they all look fun. Let's go over some of the future commanders of our hearts! I'm skipping over commanders that use fortell, as we don't have many cards for them. Oh, and the cards that don't interest me. My post, my rules!

  • Halvar, God of Battle  Flip: While pretty good in Voltron decks, he makes for the first artifact commander we've ever had, and I know my Inner Johnny is tickled at that fact. The Equipment side is also super cool, with being able to pay 4 mana to resuscitate one of your creatures. With some Phyrexian Altar + Ashnod's Altar janks, we can make a fun mono-white combo deck! Oh, and Batterskull says hi.
  • Lathril, Blade of the Elves: I'm really psyched for this general. She looks like a way to make Golgari Elfball more viable, has a crazy, but not broken, activated ability, and is one of the only generals to make a usually too-competitive strategy fit for more casual tables. She has synergy up the wazoo with cards like Immaculate Magistrate and Timberwatch Elf. Oh, and one card that should be in every one of her decks, but is in zero so far, is Elder of Laurels. This card = broken in this deck, often turning your Lathril, Blade of the Elves into a four-digit power commander. Run it!
  • Sarulf, Realm Eater: Golgari Control is a thing, I guess? Stack your deck like card:Skullbrair, the Walking Grave does, but instead of going for the voltron combos, instead, you wipe your opponent's board every turn. Evolutionary Escalation is a must. Who cares about an 8/8 on your opponent's side when it's dead?
  • Vega, the Watcher: I'll say it: This is probably the most powerful uncommon commander ever printed. This triggers off of so many things: Elsha of the Infinite, Flahsback, Cascade, Retrace, Future Sight, Suspend, Adventure, Foretell, Impulse Draw, etc. Need I say more?
  • Jorn, God of Winter  Flip: ... Sigh. I know this is a fun card, but why is it sultai? Oh wait, it's generic value. EVen from a sultai-loving man as myself, this seems like overkill. Oh, you want me to talk about the commander? Stuff your deck full of snow lands. Attack. Repeat. Etc. So uninspiring.

Primeval Bounty here is a six mana enchantment that does nothing other than some minor life gain. I'd highly recommend something else in that slot. I personally like Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger , but if you're not that sort of degenerate, instead consider a card like Chameleon Colossus , Heroes' Bane or Elder of Laurels as a way of converting lands into dunking players.

If you want more ways to get yourself an army, Ant Queen can serve in a pinch. For flying dunks and also board interaction, there's Steel Hellkite who can erase tokens with one hit and firebreathe to death the next. And if you'd like to win without having to dunk, Helix Pinnacle exists as an alternate route in case your opponents have put up enough of a wall.

Elder of Laurels has a nice pump effect to apply to Sidar or other unblocked attacker to deal out some really good damage [hopefully commander damage]. It doesn't tap for this so can be activated multiple times if you have the mana.

Hour of Reckoning is the token deck boardwipe. Convoke with your creatures that its going to kill and leave the tokens free to finish off an opponent.

Ohran Frostfang will give another way for your token horde to get through [or a way to wipe out the defending army] and potentially draw a ton of cards if Sidar is out.

Simic is my least favorite color combination. By far. Not even close. Izzet is second lest favorite, but I like some of it. Simic... none.

Advisor is probably my favorite type, followed by Cleric. The first product I bought was the Elder of Laurels precon. My first commander deck was a Captain Sisay deck, but soon became a Gaddock Teeg deck. My second commander deck was an Obzedat, Ghost Council , replaced by Kambal, Consul of Allocation . Teysa Karlov is my favorite character, and I'm working on Grand Arbiter Augustin IV advisor tribal deck for Persistent Petitioners . Azor's Elocutors is my favorite win condition, and the root of my sole Simic deck (early 2013 standard).

So, Simic Advisor, the closest in game is Leovold, Emissary of Trest , a Sultai advisor.

THLombax on Sigarda Humans and Clues

Hey bud! Nice deck! I also love Sigarda and her Human Interaction! Some relatively cheap cards that will go a long way are:

Cathars' Crusade Radiant Destiny Oketra's Monument Skullclamp Overwhelming Stampede Increasing Devotion Elder of Laurels Champion of Lambholt

I am curious though, I've considered but have not run Sword of the Animist and Tamiyo's Journal , how do they play out for you?

Since you can tap any Advisor, have you looked at Elder of Laurels, Lady Sun, Mayor of Avabruck  Flip, Trusted Advisor, Zhuge Jin, Wu Strategist, Lu Su, Wu Advisor or any other Advisors?

Elder of Laurels and Zhuge Jin, Wu Strategist together could be an alt wincon maybe?
