legendofa That looks good also, the old deck I had used dwarves (Dwarven Warriors). Maybe one of each?

Jabberjaw46 Thank you, I thought it was a good addition that may allow for higher CMC cards (Dragons) to come out too.

I really like Bomb Squad, and it would seem my average CMC allows for a playset (IMO). You're very helpful to point out that they have a free tap ability. I have always loved the very limited Dwarf cards and for many years have tried to make a viable tribal deck. Dwarven Bloodboiler , Dwarven Warriors and Blood Lust was the combo back in the day :-)

I am so happy that WotC finally brought back red Dwarves. As much as Kaladesh was great because of the return of the Dwarf.... Dwarves, to me, are red. Balthor the Defiled gets a pass. Springleaf Drum and Bomb Squad both seem like excellent additions. I'm thinking three of each, what do you think? That means six removals, and ideally I want more dragons too... I might reconsider the Twinscroll Shaman for sideboard.

I sent you a friend request by the way. Cheers!

Hey, good start on a low budget. The deck name gave me a laugh :)

Some cards $1-$2 or less each to consider adding:

Having ways to tap Dwarves without attacking especially Magada is helpful to create treasures. Springleaf Drum , Survivors' Encampment , Holdout Settlement are ways to tap Magada to make mana. Dwarven Warriors and Dwarven Nomad can make Magada unblockable as long as she has only 2 power. Key to the City can make any creature unblockable such as Fearless Liberator .

Aethersphere Harvester is a Vehicle and Vehicles have an ability called crew which lets you tap any number of creatures you control with power equal to or more than the crew number. You can crew any number of times even if the Vehicle is already a creature with as many creatures as you want. Aethersphere with crew 1 means any creature can crew; each Dwarf you control can create a treasure.

Good luck with your deck.

Dockside Extortionist while not a dwarf or a dragon, is a prime source of treasure. Hellkite Tyrant is a possible win condition. You could stuff a couple of rocks like Arcane Signet , Mind Stone , or Thought Vessel which can provide reliable ramp (or less budget Mana Crypt , Mox Amber , or especially Mox Opal ). There's Dwarven Warriors , Dwarven Nomad , or Dwarven Blastminer who make decent dwarves that can tap themselves. Taurean Mauler is both a dragon, a dwarf, and a decent card. I'd be remiss if i didn't mention Faithless Looting , as it is an amazing card. You could also try Blood Moon wich has become mooch more affordable. Also could mention Inventors' Fair and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx which are two of my very favorite lands. Now there are a lot more cards of your budget can afford but most of these suggestions are fairly budget, not saying that your list is a budget one.

Don't take my considerations as criticisms, your list is very cool, i didn't think I'd like this deck until i saw this deck! Love the deck and i hope you continue to improve it.

Caerwyn on Question for a Tetsuko Umezawa …

First, for future reference, the Commander Deck Help forum is used when you have questions about a deck you are building. If you have questions about how a certain card works, or the interaction between multiple cards, please use the Rules Q&A section of this site. There's usually a couple players lurking there who will answer your questions in fairly short order. I've taken the liberty of moving your thread.

Moving on to your question, this will not work.

Identity Thief's trigger occurs during the declare attackers step. Once you declare it as an attacker, its ability goes on the stack and resolves, still during the declare attackers step.

Base power/Toughness are values that are copied. So, when you use your Identity Thief to copy a Giant Spider, Identity Thief will now be a 2/4.

Then we move into the declare blockers step. At this point, your Identity Thief no longer has a power or toughness less than 1, so it can be blocked.

Compare to Dwarven Warriors. If Dwarven Warriors activated its ability targeting Identity Thief, Identity Thief could not be blocked even after it transforms. Dwarven Warriors, unlike Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive, only cares about Power at the time the ability is activated. This would have a lasting impact on Identity Thief, even after Identity Theif's power became greater than 2. In fact, this was referenced in the card's Alpha text: Dwarven Warriors.

Apocalypse may be a better fit for board wipe. Also maybe put some effects in there making Grenzo or another small creature unblockable (Dwarven Warriors comes to mind). Finally, Fireblast looks like it'd be a perfect fit for this deck.
