Drizzt Do'Urden

Legendary Creature — Elf Ranger

Double strike

When this enters the the battlefield, create Guenhwyvar, a legendary 4/1 green Cat creature token with trample.

Whenever a creature dies (is put into the graveyard from the battlefield), if it had power greater than this, put a number of +1/+1 counters on this equal to the difference.

seshiro_of_the_orochi on Saskia the Viking

This looks hilarious, I love the sheer brutality this deck represents. I've been struggeling to build a Saskia deck in a similar style, and yours really helps me with that. Thanks a lot!

Looking through your list, I think I have some useful suggestions.

First, Drizzt Do'Urden would propably be another quite awesome addition, the same goes for Zagras, Thief of Heartbeats. And Vona, Butcher of Magan. Seriously, this deck could basically every badass looking character one could find.

Then, you play such a high amount of legendary creatures that Heroes' Podium has actual finisher potential. And it even draws cards.

Finally, a thing I've always considered hilarious for Saskia would be blink spells. Just imagine attacking the player chosen for Saskia, with the other two opponents thinking they're save, to then flicker Saskia, resulting in an unexpected double kill.

I agree with bushido_man96, consider cutting the life gaining strategy?

You're not comboing with Sanguine Bond and it's a higher mana cost card that's not a creature. Gray Merchant of Asphodel does much less if you're not using it in a combo as the wincon. Dawn of Hope is good repeatable draw when your Commander has lifelink, but attacking with Nethroi shouldn't be priority since you're really playing it for it's 7 mana mutate reanimation not to consistently attacking.

Drizzt Do'Urden and Demon of Loathing are subpar. Yannik, Scavenging Sentinel is another creature who can combo with Karmic Guide and a sac outlet for another all creature wincon combo that Nethroi can reanimate.

Yannik, Scavenging Sentinel + Karmic Guide + Viscera Seer + Blood Artist.

Thanks multimedia it took me a bit to get around to ironing out this deck and try. I love all the suggestions, I did have a land drop issue for sure, but funny enough I ended up winning the game mostly because I managed to get Mirari's Wake on the field that helped me keep up. Funny enough Rhox Faithmender ended up being my VIP as my token generators kept being targeted and the Sword of Light and Shadow kept the cleric safe as my playgroup leans REAL heavy into black cards. Drizzt Do'Urden with some boots / Sword of Hearth and Home and Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper were close seconds.

I also could never make use of Vorpal Sword effectively so now I've finally bent and took it out of the deck. That said, I've put in some choice mana rocks, added more lands, and took out a few things that weren't serving the deck. It's funny because I didn't intend it, but when my token strategy was taken down, this served as a decent Voltron with the equipment/enchantments it has going on.

Obviously, I'm still a bit light on lands, but I hope with the new lands/rocks and some of the treasure generators like Monologue Tax and Pitiless Plunderer these will set this in the right direction, but I'll know more after this Sunday when I get to try it again.

I think I'd still like this to be more of a token centered deck, so I might keep looking up some combo/token generators to expand upon this. If you have any suggestions for that specifically I'd love it as I have the rest of your help, even if they're not entirely budget cards. Thanks again for everything!

Hey, nice card changes, but you now have less lands than before and are below 30 lands? You shouldn't cut lands to add other cards since you need lands for your deck to function. If you need more room to fit other cards in then some advice is to streamline the mana curve by choosing the best cards at 4 CMC or higher and cutting the others. Chatterfang is a great upgrade especially because you have Plunderer. Cutting The Ozolith was the right choice; great that you see that.

Making a basic structure for your deck would help you're deck building:

  • 35-36 lands
  • 25 creatures
  • 10+ ramp
  • 10+ draw includes tutors
  • 10- removal includes board wipes, counterspells
  • 5+ flex spots includes combos, win conditions, unique cards with your Commanders, special tech against your playgroup, etc.

This is just a basic structure to start, not all areas are covered and some areas can have different amounts. The most important part of this structure is the amounts of lands, ramp and draw since these areas that make your deck function. Some cards can go in many areas which is really what you want from the cards you play. The combos you're trying to assemble take a lot of mana (made up of four and five drops) thus it would help gameplay having 35-36 lands and 10+ ramp sources.

Some cards that could be cut to add lands, improve the deck structure and streamline:

  • Victory's Envoy
  • Drizzt Do'Urden
  • Dramatic Finale
  • Tendrils of Agony
  • Archon of Sun's Grace
  • Leonin Warleader
  • Felisa, Fang of Silverquill
  • Icingdeath, Frost Tyrant

Some cards that could be cut to add more ramp and draw:

  • Serrated Scorpion
  • Vorpal Sword
  • Shaile, Dean of Radiance
  • Indulging Patrician
  • You Happen on a Glade
  • Banishing Light
  • Trelasarra, Moon Dancer

When you streamline you cut the lesser cards that are at the top of mana curve. Ghave, Guru of Spores and Sporemound are two best five drops here because they're part of combos. Shadrix Silverquill can be tons of repeatable value. Wandering Archaic  Flip, Mirari's Wake and Inkshield are powerful for five mana. Victory's Envoy is not needed because one of Shadrix modes is to put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control. Envoy and Drizzt Do'Urden aren't good enough to replace any of the other five drops. Ikra is also a five drop which have to keep in mind.

Pitiless Plunderer and Life and Limb are the two best four drops here because they're part of combos and Akroma's Will is powerful. Damn and Devastating Mastery are also four drops since consistently they'll be cast for four mana. Rhox Faithmender is fine, but you're not really going for life gaining strategy. All the other four drops could be cut since most of the three drops here are better. Prava create a token costs four mana which should keep in mind.

One drops are great in Commander, but even a one drop has to be worth one mana which Serrated Scorpion and Vorpal Sword aren't. Vorpal may be one mana, but it takes more mana with strict color requirements to actually use it and you have much better equipment here that you would rather spend mana to equip. Scorpion is not needed because you have Blood Artist. These two are examples of cuts to add more ramp or draw.

I like this. I just build a rough version of Drizzt Do'Urden, and it seems to have a somewhat similar strategy: I mainly focus on equipment, but also added some +1/+1 counter shenanigans. A card I really like in there is Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist. It's just so easy to put everything on Kalemne with him. Two great wipes in Voltron are Single Combat and Divine Reckoning. Another cool voltron card I play in my Moraug, Fury of Akoum is Boots of Speed. It's an easy and cheap way to have your voltron online again. One final thing: Maybe try Odric, Lunarch Marshal. Even if Kalemne somehow becomes unable to attack, Odric can use her presence to give your remaining board Double Strike and Vigilance out of nowhere.

This looks pretty good so far. Did I see it correctly that you included about 35 lands spread among all sections? Seems fine, but I wouldn't go lower. Would you consider The Underworld Cookbook ? I realize you're playing the other one of Magic's chefs, but it's a pretty great card for Gyome as well, and even better as you're already playing Cauldron Familiar . If you're looking for a finisher, Cranial Plating is powerful here. Inspiring Statuary is awesome ramp, but hard to defend with your theme in mind. A very easy include is Feasting Troll King . Oh, and Infernal Tribute basically turns your food into clues.

Btw, there should be a Gyome list somewhere on my profile (I'm pretty sure I didn't delete it). If you're interested, feel free to have a look.

Finally: I just started building some AFR commanders. After building pools, I'm not sure if I'll actually finish Kalain, Reclusive Painter , but an early version Asmodeus the Archfiend is already sleeved, and once I get the chance to go over the 200-card-pile for Drizzt Do'Urden , I'll also hopefully get a version of him. I'll try to upload them in the coming weeks.
