Draconic Intervention

Draconic Intervention

Sorcery

As an additional cost to cast this spell, exile an instant or sorcery card from your graveyard.

This deals X damage to each non-Dragon creature, where X is the exiled card's converted mana cost/mana value. If a creature dealt damage this way would die this turn (would be put into the graveyard from the battlefield), exile it instead.

Exile this.

Draconic Intervention Discussion

Ok, so Sol Ring is a powerful card. I can understand when you leave it out on purpose, but otherwise, I'd heavily suggest adding it. Great ramp for dragon decks are Dragonspeaker Shaman and Dragonlord's Servant.

Warstorm Surge is a second Terror of the Peaks. Cryptic Gateway can cheat dragons into play for basically free.

Chaos Warp is red's Beast Within. Draconic Intervention is a great, on flavour boardwipe.

Playing four Dragon's Approach makes no sense. You have to exile five of them for the effect, so that's the minimum. But as you'd want to have a big number of it, you'd basically have to play at least twenty. So maybe drop these and add at least some more lands. 34 is very few. 36 or 37 should be ok.

The rest looks fine. Have fun playing it.

These days, I'm playing a 5 color deck a bit similar to your.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of Beledros Witherbloom. Velomachus Lorehold, with vigilance, haste and its ability to cast instant without paying their mana cost is a much better deal, imo. A pretty useful land you might try, in Standard, is The World Tree. That, along with Dragon orbs and treasures, make casting Tiamat fairly easy.

A couple of other cards I thought could be fun exploring for that sort of deck :

seshiro_of_the_orochi on What to do against Rakdos, …

I assume the problem is that Zada is a smurf deck and has a hard time against the oomph Rakdos slams down very early? Chandra's Ignition looks to be an impressive boardwipe for Zada. With Basilisk Collar, this will kill everything even without any real board presence on your side. Draconic Intervention will propably be good, as well, and Blasphemous Act is an obvious choice.

In case this doesn't help, how about player removal? Brash Taunter and Blazing Sunsteel are bith great cards you could easily include, and they combine into killing the table as soon as Taunter receives damage. Not a very Zada way of winning, but it works.

seshiro_of_the_orochi on Reckless Endeavor too reckless?

Wow, we really got a great discussion rolling.

The card originally took the slot of Draconic Intervention in my Moraug list, but after all the great input, I'm actually considering running both. I have no Chain Reaction, but both Blasphemous Act and Hour of Devastation are already in there. The deck is somewhat light on creatures, and the important ones are p/t 5 and upwards. It wants rituals anyway, so Endeavor still seems fitting.

That’s what I ended up doing. I added Draconic Intervention and the delve spells work with it so well.

I cut the All Is Dust for Draconic Intervention and cut Mana Geyser for Primal Amulet  Flip. Still trying to fit in Crackle with Power .

I think if I ran Blitz of the Thunder-Raptor it would replace Abrade . I like Mizzium Mortars for spot removal/board wipe purposes.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll see what I can fit in.

I’ve seen Crackle with Power in some lists, gonna add it and try it out when I get the deck together.

I’m already adding Draconic Intervention just gotta find room, and Evacuation is standing in for Cyclonic Rift until I can buy one.

I do have an extra Primal Amulet  Flip laying around I could add.

I considered Mishra's Bauble but just thought it didn’t do enough, having to wait for the draw is not great. I could see it being good though with Galazeth.

I stayed away from Memnite and Ornithopter because they don’t do anything if I don’t have my commander out.

Do you see anything I should cut?

I would add Crackle with Power as a way to potentially kill one or more opponents. Draconic Intervention and Cyclonic Rift are good wipes that keep Galazeth on the board. Mirari and Primal Amulet  Flip are great instant/sorcery synergies that are also artifacts. Mishra's Bauble , Memnite and Ornithopter are 0 mana artifacts that can now tap for mana with Galazeth.
