Call of the Nightwing

Sorcery

Create a 1/1 blue and black Horror creature token with flying.

Cipher (Then you may exile this spell card encoded on a creature you control. Whenever that creature deals combat damage to a player, its controller may cast a copy of the encoded card without paying its mana cost.)

Hateful Eidolon is a pet card of mine (I love her) and could be really sweet here as well. Either way, I appreciate this deck a lot, as it reminds me of a deck I used to have, before I took it apart. Call of the Nightwing is a pretty sweet defensive card as well- protects you somewhat from the backswing.

So I would consider the following for removal Spoils of Blood, Call of the Nightwing, Dark Hatchling, Phyrexian Obliterator, Creakwood Liege, Deathbringer Liege.

I will say I'm listing some awesome cards, Obliterator in particular, but 4 black in a 4 color deck is nigh impossible to get consistently. The Lieges are good too but their focus on color holds them back in this deck. The other 3 are more along the lines of 'neat' meaning they are certainly cool but are either too inefficient or not impactful enough.

Hope that helps open up a little space.

Okay. This is an intriguing one.

I have an excessively casual build sort of like this in modern.

So step one here is definitely ciphers. Call of the Nightwing creates a few good blockers. Last Thoughts draws some cards, where Mental Vapors hates a little. Midnight Recovery is epic after a wrath. And, finally, Undercity Plague can be a downright scourge.

Also worth considering- Triton Shorestalker.

Sorry I can't be more help but that's kinda what I got.

If you are looking for cards to cut, I would suggest cutting some of the less impactful cipher spells like Call of the Nightwing and Hands of Binding and adding Smuggler's Copter and Exsanguinate in their place.

I'm thinking I can remove Rhystic Tutor, Spell Crumple, and Call of the Nightwing for three cards for my Maybe Board. I'm trying to figure out which ones to sub in. Any help is appreciated!

I like the deck, I'm actually making something similar, i would recommend Tormented Soul for a one drop unblockable, Fog Bank for some defense and maybe Call of the Nightwing for a Cipher card that also generates some flying tokens

I've messed around with some unblockable builds in the past- things I've seen work well have been Hands of Binding and friends, alongside Biomass Mutation.

For other unblockable spirits in various budgets, Ghastlord of Fugue, Nether Traitor, Tormented Soul, Hunted Phantasm are worth a look. The big trick is managing to pump out the damage with the unblocked creatures or get other fun effects- I've seen Curiosity, Tainted Strike, Phyresis, Drana, Liberator of Malakir, Oona's Blackguard, Paranoid Delusions, Call of the Nightwing Skullsnatcher, Stronghold Rats, Helm of the Ghastlord, Mephidross Vampire/Necropolis Regent, you name it. Its all about deciding how you want to make that unblockable damage into an unstoppable advantage
