Akki Blizzard-Herder

Creature — Goblin Shaman

When Akki Blizzard-Herder is put into a graveyard from play, each player sacrifices a land.

Sweet! (+1), would Akki Blizzard-Herder count here? I know he's probably trying to cast a spell (type = shaman), but out of context it just screams "I FOUND THE STICK!" Dockside Extortionist can be pretty nifty against artifacts and he also looks pretty pleased with his haul of coin.

Also, on an unrelated note, is it just me or does Emberwilde Augur//Goblin Dynamo and Embermage Goblin (Hadoken!) look like a before and after shot or part of a "How it was/How it's going" meme =P.

So, I saw your post in reddit, and realized I had an RB Angler Pox list, and a Mono Red LD list, but not a Mono red Pox/Ponza/Stax/Crack the Earth list (I believe this archetype is closer to Ponza and to a lesser degree Pox, since we don't play any prison pieces to be Stax, and we don't play typical LD spells as, for instance, Mono Black LD).

Anyway, I decided to put up a rough, unpolished decklist which I might try, and might give you some ideas for your own deck. Goldfishing it a bit, it seemed slightly more consistent because of the higher mass of cantrips, and lower land count. Take a look, and tell me whatcha think. https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mono-red-ldpoxcrack-the-earth/

Main changes are Akki Blizzard-Herder replacing Raze, since we can break akki's simmetry, but raze's gonna always be a 2 for 1, a higher mass of mana stones and cantripping artifacts, to keep the card flow, and have some mana sources after trembling and akki'ing, and finally Goblin Grenade/Heartfire which will sac our goblins to remove annoying creatures or burn our opponent's face.

The deck probably needs some more removal, and ways to get rid of wide boardstates, like your mainboard Electrickery, also doesn't have much of a board presence or a clear finisher as the RB version (you can check mine if you want https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/angler-pox/)

Finally, in case you wanna take a look, here's my creatureless mono red LD list, which I'll be updating anyday soon. https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/creatureless-ponzaland-destruction/

Cheers.

Also, what do you think about Akki Blizzard-Herder , to combo him with crack the earth or simply chump block?

If it's land destruction it's too mean. Still, it could be meaner... Maybe Molten Rain instead of Pillage and Avalanche Riders instead of Cosmic Larva; you don't have to win big if your deck is this oppressive. I would also consider Akki Blizzard-Herder and Crack the Earth (If you get rid of the Cosmic Larva you can free up some land slots and add some more gas to keep up the pressure. If you want it to feel a little less one-sided you could consider Steam Vines and Shivan Wumpus, but it would be, strictly speaking, worse. This seems like a cool, all or nothing deck. Should be fun to play every once-in-a-while.

to keep with the theme Akki Blizzard-Herder also does similar things.

Sorry for the double post, but some not-so-good-but-funny options are cards like Akki Blizzard-Herder, Custody Battle, Hurloon Shaman, and Shivan Wumpus. That way you can say to your opponents: "well you chose to destroy your own lands".

Some other actually useful symmetrical options could be Destructive Flow, Zo-Zu the Punisher, Keldon Firebombers, Wildfire, or Wave of Vitriol.

@Grubbernaut It is in paper; when you only play that way, there is no point of paying an extra 2 dollars

@MFFUFYFT I should try this out, but I feel a like that would require to change the deck up a bit, because Atog works together with borderposts and Ichor Wellspring

@Landonius Thanks! I've tried Akki Blizzard-Herder, but it has the problem of giving choice to your opponents. Sure it slows them down, but they can just ignore it for 3~4 turns, get a bunch of lands, and then start attacking.

Cool deck! Akki Blizzard-Herder might be interesting here.
