Less snakes, more poisons
spacemonaut, 8 years ago
Rotating away from Snake theme, and toward Tokens and -1/-1 counters.
Out: Corrosive Mentor, Dusk Urchins, Midnight Banshee, Needle Specter, Blade of Selves, Skeleton Key, Grave Betrayal, Sol Ring, Adaptive Automaton, Chameleon Colossus, Death-Hood Cobra, Ohran Viper, Pharika, God of Affliction, Skullwinder.
In:
- Key to the City: Help friends hit friends.
- Worm Harvest: Tokens! So many tokens.
- Lotleth Troll: Super desirable discard outlet.
- Archfiend of Ifnir: There's enough discard outlet to motivate this now.
- Nephalia Academy: Swapping in for a land.
- Dread Return: Reanimation!
- Arachnogenesis: Potentially a large number of tokens, and threat wipe, and combat tricks are fun to keep in store anyway.

Amonkhet Overall, and Grave-Troll Ban
Tyrant-Thanatos, 8 years ago
Okay, I've reworked this list to remove Golgari Grave-Trolls, as they got banned, and the new Amonkhet "Bicycle" lands look like they'll be really sick with Life from the Loam. Hopefully I can get this deck back on it's feet after the ban.
Suggestions are always welcome.

Little changes

Removed:
Mana Echoes: Only relevant if you also run another spell that allows you to go infinite with Marath. Most of the time, it is win more.
Craterhoof Behemoth: This one hurts to remove but honestly, I don't think it is necessary to have 3 win cons. I decided to remove hoof because it is easy to disrupt the hoof kill (in addition to counters, there's fog effects, prison stuff, removal, etc)... I know it feels right to play hoof in a deck that can easily generate lots of tokens but it turns out it is not fundamental. If you can win with hoof, chances are you can win with kiki combo or purphoros storm.
Weathered Wayfarer: The card is decent but if you play green as well, you should probably play Knight of the Reliquary instead. White is a splash color in this deck, so chances are you won't gave access to white mana early on in the game anyway.
Added:
Food Chain: This card is great in any deck that has lots of creatures and can combo with creatures (kiki or purphoros). Way better than mana echoes. The eldrazi dude is win more, so don't suggest it.
Knight of the Reliquary: Better option to wayfarer.
Chromatic Lantern: I don't think I've solved the mana base yet but lantern does a great job at fixing it. It lets your basics tap for any type of mana, which is obviously great when you have earthcraft out.
Taking out rooftop storm and one sidisi
MizzMizz, 8 years ago
After a bunch of play testing, i have decided to get rid of Rooftop Storm. it just isn't as beneficial as i first thought it was. The 2 Aether Vial are enough to speed the deck up.
Iv'e also added a 3rd Fatal Push and a Demonic Tutor as well as 2 Contingency Plan so we can get Sidisi, Undead Vizier out faster and start tutoring our win conditions out.

HUGE UPDATE
kryptobrodie, 8 years ago
This update has been in the works for some time. After lots of games, casual and competitive I have added and taken out things that I think work better. I am always open to more suggestions and will keep testing each suggestion as they come in.
So now to the cuts in the deck.
6x Forest
Here is what I have added over the last month or two. After doing the update I realized it also added about $100 to the deck. The good thing is I didn't have to spend the money but to just take apart some old decks I no longer use.

Equalized with Paper, Cleared Comments
zephramtripp, 8 years ago
Thank you many friends for helping develop this deck. It has slowly been acquiring the cards it needs to succeed. Clearing comments for a new frame of reference. I have changed the decklist to my actual paper deck.
The People Have Spoken
EmperorNexys, 8 years ago
As per the suggestion of a Casey4321, I replaced the original Commander--Breya, Etherium Shaper--with the Partner Commanders Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist *f-etch* and Ravos, Soultender *f-etch*. Breya was only the Commander in the first place because I wanted access to all her colors, and I had not considered the possibility of using two Commanders to get the same effect. This is much better, as Miss Etherium Shaper had absolutely nothing to do with anything, whereas Ludevic has that incentive-to-hit-other-people ability.

4-1 - FNM Win-A-Box
Keos027, 8 years ago
My LGS organized a Win-A-Box MM3 last friday. I ended up 3rd, losing to a mirror match-up. 2-0 Valakut: First match was going well for me. I punted as I attacked for lethal+1 with an extra Scions when he had a Primeval Titan (tapped) and a Mountain up. My Spawner was bolted and ended up being 1 damage short to kill him, without any blockers. Luckily for me, he fetched the titan last turn with a pact and he forgot to pay (I totally forgot about it, so kuddos for good sportmanship). Second match, he ramped into nothing. 2-0 Ad Nausea: First time I actually face this deck, but he only got draw spells and nothing else both games. He then explained to me how to play against the deck, for when it goes normal 2-1 Death Shadow: First game I was rammed by two Goyf 5/6 on turn 3 and 4. Second game was a grind. My opponent had a New Lili down, +1 my only creature , an Eldrazi Displacer, and then waited for me to draw my card (I was hellbent) to cast a Kolagan's Command to take full advantage of it. Lucky for me, I drew Dromoka's Command, prevented the damage and put a counter on my displacer which won me the game. Last game, just cruised with Smasher into Smasher. 2-1 Eldrazi Tron: First game went pretty normal, game 2 I was Karned T4. Game 3, I got Smasher T3 into Smasher T4 and it was game. 0-2 Bant Eldrazi: I had some pretty insane top deck all previous match-ups, but not against him. I could have won easily if I drew just one Smasher (or a Ancient Stirrings to find one) but drew lands for 5 turns.

Took out Chord of Calling and put in Grim Monolith. I will at some point be replacing something for Eldritch Evolution to keep the deck versatile.

Saheeli Vs Nahiri
Naosu, 8 years ago
Hey guys !
Today a mate wanted to confront his Nahiri deck (Similar has Jim David Decklist) against the list.
Here the feedback:
1st Game: Lost
Why ? Cause i admit it, we don't have too much counterspells, first game was dead for me from turn 2 with a Spell Snare on my Wall of Omens. One turn retarded, 2 Restoration Angel and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker countered. i can't come back and my opponent killed me with burn spells, but fortunately Nahiri was easy to keep away from the board in this game.
2nd Game: Win with Restoration Angel and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker.
Second game was close, Nahiri was hard to keep away from the board this time, thanks Pia and Kiran Nalaar. Turn 7 Flash Restoration Angel, Turn 8 Kiki, win.
3rd Game: Win with Saheeli Rai and Felidar Guardian.
Third game was close too, opponent wanted finish it fast with burn spells, and board controle (permanent and land). Saheeli on the board, Angel and Kiki in hand turn 7, my opponent had cast a Vendilion Clique to put Kiki on the bottom but i drew a Felidar Guardian. End

Minor Tweak
elephantambush, 8 years ago
Acidic Slime -> Reclamation Sage. Similar effect, 2mana cheaper. Land destruction isn't super urgent, and I still have a bit available in the rest of the deck if I need it.
Prime Speaker Zegana -> Rhystic Study. Deck felt weird without Study so it's back in an effort to further reduce the curve. The few times I've had Zegana in play, she hasn't been spectacular.
Brainstorm -> Crystal Ball. Repeatable topdeck manipulation is probably better in the long run than a one-shot 'draw 3'.

FNM and decklist changes
charlesovery, 8 years ago
Why green? Access to enchantment and artifact removal that would counter gy removal such as Relic of Progenitus and Rest in Peace. The last fnm proved the changes to be good for the deck in the format. Match 1: Mardu Control - this match up was one I thought would be one of the strongest against my deck. A deck with a lot of removal usually causes problems for my deck. All the games in this match up went to the mid and late game, was frustrated and hard fought. However, the highlights of this match up was all about Eternal Scourge vs. Relic of Progenitus in the second game. I drew a Pithing Needle to call Nahiri. This left Liliana of the Veil as his only option on the table. With recurring Eternal Scourge Liliana loses as does Relic of Progenitus. Virulent Plague completely stopped any opportunity for him to gain any aggro advantage or board presence at all. Constant recursion is the reason this deck won this match up. 2nd Match: Jund - This was a fun match up. However, no one really expected Smuggler's Copter to be affective against a deck with a lot of control. First game was all Copter's advancing the deck with being able to push the theme of the deck. Bitterblossom cause much of the same affect as it allows a significant distraction, thus allowing the Copter's to affect the game so greatly. Playing a Demigod of Revenge that recurred two other for the win. No Scavaging Oozes the first game. Second game was a little different as he drew two Oozes that greatly affected how this game ran. My only option was to draw a Pithing Needle to shut down the Ooze. Worked for few turns until an Abrupt Decay took away the advantage. Eternal Scourge coupled with Bitterblossom took control as I constantly had a blocker and kept me in the game. He played his 3rd Bob with having only 4 life. Yes, he killed himself on his next turn. 3rd Match: Dredge - Mirror match... somewhat. At least gy speaking. From turn two on I had plays for says. My opponent couldn't get Hus dredge machine to go in either game. Copter's into Demigods and constant recursion of Bloodghasts and Prized Amalgams was proven to much. I feel this deck in a state to becoming a serious championship contender. I love this deck.
