Yaay!

Idoneity, 1 year ago

We can always run fewer lands. I have cut two Swamps and two Plains. In their absence, I have added Witch Enchanter  Flip, Razorgrass Ambush  Flip, Boggart Trawler  Flip, and Fell the Profane  Flip.

Just better

Idoneity, 1 year ago

Dehisced indeed! I have cut Realmwalker cause another effect like it exists in the deck, an Island cause I prefer interaction, and Impulse cause Simic now has a better one. I have replaced them with Harbinger of the Seas cause I hate fun, Sink into Stupor  Flip cause I prefer interaction, and Planar Genesis to ramp with my cantrips.

Out With The Old, In With The New

Rotlung, 1 year ago

Upgrades, people, upgrades!

Since I last touched this deck I have grown a lot as a deck builder. Here are my 16 swaps!

Cuts: 3 Forest, Asceticism, Defense of the Heart, Herald's Hornfoil, Loxodon Warhammer, Regrowth, Rhonas's Monument, Traverse the Outlands, Colossal Majesty, Drumhunter, Obscuring Haze, Pathbreaker Wurm, Zendikar Resurgent, Glorious Sunrise

The one thing that all of these cuts have in common is that they are all pretty clunky. Big enchantments that don't do anything the turn they come into play, slow ramp and outdated cards have been removed.

Adds: Return to Nature, Llanowar Elves, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Wrap in Vigor, Grothama, All-Devouring, Praetor's Counsel, Song of the Dryads, Three Visits, Klothys's Design, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Bala Ged Recovery  Flip, Boseiju, Who Endures, Emergent Woodwurm, Up the Beanstalk, Contest of Claws, Archdruid's Charm

With the addition of these cards the mana curve has slimmed down by quite a bit. I added some cleaner removal and finishers along side some lands that are just too good to pass up. I'm very happy with how the deck plays after these swaps!

Resurrection

Teemursu, 1 year ago

There have been some exciting cards for the deck coming out the past five years. I haven't really played much MtG during this time, but I wanted to update the deck and get some games in after a loooong time.

Card changes:

IN:

Warren Soultrader

Probably the most exciting card for the deck. Combo piece, ramp and a sacrifice outlet all in one wizard. That's great!

Ruthless Technomancer

Somewhat similar to Disciple of Bolas, except it generates mana instead of drawing cards, but also resurrects wizards!

Archmage of Echoes

Seems like a perfect fit for the deck as well. Similar to Inalla, Archmage Ritualist as well as Naban, Dean of Iteration.

Plaza of Heroes River of Tears Secluded Courtyard Unclaimed Territory

Refreshed the mana base. Should support the multi-colored and blue based wizards much better!

OUT:

Sea Gate Oracle

I feel like there's enough wizards that draw cards, while they also are cheaper.

Reflecting Poolfoil Tarnished Citadel Wasteland Winding Canyons

These make way for the better lands. Colorless utility is not that necessary, while Reflecting Poolfoil is just worse than some of the other lands. Tarnished Citadel was quite nice, but there were games where once you reach around 15 life, each tap starts to really cost, especially if you have Necropotence in play.

Vindictive Lich

Difficult cut, I do enjoy the card and it always is decent, but I honestly just want to try out other cards. If Vendilion Clique wasn't my favorite card ever, I'd cut it as it really doesn't do that much in the deck.

Flesh Carver

Decent sacrifice outlet, but there are now better cards to fit that role, and just even in general.

MAYBES:

There are also cards I'd really like to try out and include, but I am not sure what to cut. Current maybeboard includes Aether Channeler for its flexibility (draw vs. bounce nonland permanent), Exhibition Mage for more Treasure tokens, and Gisa, Glorious Resurrector for more of the "stealing + permanent keep" with Marchesa combo.

Please let me know what you think could be cut to fit those three, would be interested to hear :)

Re-Organizing

KaloShin, 1 year ago

This list was organized pretty badly. I'm currently updating it to a more discernable standard, and we've added Modern Horizons 3 cards to the list. This is a bit of a short update, because a lot more cards were added as well, and I feel like it would be better to just add an explanation for everything else we have here.

Sink into Stupor  Flip and Hydroelectric Specimen  Flip are absolute bangers however, and deserve a mention for their power level alone.

Burfitmus

Idoneity, 1 year ago

It's a five-colour deck, so I'll treat it like one. I have removed an Island for the renowned City of Brass.

this deck utilizes ad nauseam/ bolas's citadel strategies to win the game relatively early, in conjunction with a classic aristocrat strategy to enable board presence and survive in the long game. the main combos are - Ashdod's altar + parallel lives + slimefoot's ability (= infinite sacrifice loop, infinite slimefoot damage triggers to drain opponents) sporemound + life and limb + landfall or saproling etb + a sac outlet ( = infinite landfall triggers from sporemound, since every saproling created is considered a land because of life and limb. this infinite landfall loop will result in a draw unless one of the pieces is removed or unless a sac outlet is available. with many sac outlets and slimefoot at our disposal, creating an infinite damage loop and draining our opponent's life total with this combo is very likely).

Tutter

Idoneity, 1 year ago

I have removed a Swamp and Necrogoyf for Urza's Cave and Grim Servant.

Let's Keep Modifying

Idoneity, 1 year ago

I enjoy untapped lands, but upside can prove enough. I have removed Cinder Glade and Canopy Vista for Commercial District and Lush Portico.

2nd place in lgs EDH event!

GeminiSpartanX, 1 year ago

This deck along with my brother's Tergrid deck took 2nd place in the local commander team event! Our only loss was to a pair of cEDH partners who killed us on turn 2, but I feel like we had the best pair of non-cEDH decks in the room. MVPs were Mana Drain, Heliod's Intervention, Slip Out the Back, and Grand Arbiter Agustin IV alongside various other counterspells. While I didn't knock anyone out with Bruna, I was able to keep the coast clear for Tergrid to take over both games that we won.

I think I'll work on getting 5th copies of the cards I have in the SB in order to keep this deck optimized for possible future competitive play, but I'm not in a hurry to do so. I love this deck!

Modern Horizons 3

A lot of spicy new Eldrazi, Eldrazi and colourless support in this set. Let's go!

6/17/24 -- Took out winds of change because it's card negative and underperformed in the games I've played with it. Brought in magnetic theft after realizing that it's actively insane in this deck imo.

Major deck overhaul thanks to Modern Horizons 3! It's now a reanimator themed conquistador deck, it's got a lot more OOMPH to it now! Still needs plenty of play testing, though.

Mana Banana

Idoneity, 1 year ago

Let's update the mana base! I have cut Canyon Slough, Deepglow Skate, Fabled Passage, and an Island. In their lieu, this deck is now a home for The Irencrag, Polluted Delta, Raucous Theater, and Undercity Sewers.

MH3 Update

Citridon, 1 year ago

-1 Darksteel Plate, +1 Omo, Queen of Vesuva - Darksteel Plate was here to help protect Mirror Entity, since it's our secret Commander. Omo is redundancy of Mirror Entity's function, so I'm happy to get the unique redundancy in over a card a I have in a couple decks (and it's more creatures). Omo is also covered by all the ways to get it back Mirror Entity is, so I think this should be a good swap.

-1 Sylvan Ranger, +1 Katilda, Dawnhart Prime - Less permanent, but much like the sliver mana dork this will potentially add a lot of mana production, gives me a way to grow everyone permanently (which also enables activating mirror entity for 0 to get hexproof or indestructible with the right lords). She also nicely works to make Tazri specifically a dork, which is a nice bonus.

-1 Farseek, +1 Thornvault Forager

------------Maybes/If I get a copy----------------------

-1 Pheres-Band Warchief, +1 Brenard, Ginger Sculptor

-1 Midnight Entourage, +1 Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor

-1 Lifecrafter's Bestiary, +1 Bitterthorn, Nissa's Animus

-1 Gruesome Menagerie, +1 Annie Flash, the Veteran

-1 Zareth San, the Trickster, +1 Disa the Restless

-1 Eternal Witness, +1 Hourglass of the Lost - A little slower/weaker at the e-wit effect, but it's also ramp. And doing double duty helps the deck run smoother while hitting the density of lords and changelings

-1 Volrath's Stronghold, +1 Talon Gates of Madara - I have other lands that do this effect and Talon Gates gives me a land that does on the board protection for my changelings, plus ramps while doing it

I need to sit down and catalogue the changes I made to this deck - it's been so long! I added several lands and took out all Hope of Ghirapturs and all but one of the Knights of the Kitchen Sink in favor of them. But, they're too strong, I miss them, so they're going to come back in! At the expense of Etched Champion, I think. I was inspired by another CardMarket video that had Frank Karsten being absolutely baller about Fact or Fiction splits and bought a single copy for the memes, but man it's a fantastic card!!!! I will be getting more copies into the deck for sure! At least one more, as I've added here. I need to buck up and actually get those brainstorms in too. Anyway even just adding in the more lands has made the deck so much less stressful to play! But my draws aren't as strong. Just extra reason to make sure I add in more instant-speed card draw!!!

Changelog

SteelHeadPaladin, 1 year ago

+1 Dispel // +1 Spell Pierce // +1 Snap // -1 Naru Meha, Master Wizard // -1 Volcanic Visions (DDS) // -1 Drowned Secrets

I don't want the deck to be completely casual. Volcanic Visions (DDS) is too much mana and I don't have many spell to make use of the secondary effect. Naru Meha, Master Wizard hasn't seen play in any games and there are other ways to copy spells. Drowned Secrets would be better in a mill deck. I replaced them spells to provide more interaction.
