Use Venser to Flicker your Geist honored Monks, until you get the emblem, once you do, the Game should be on lock down, the images and metamorphs are to copy either the captains, or the reavers, and the call to kindred will help pull more spirits onto the field

Rachet Bomb is the bomb

ottosmagic13, 13 years ago

Definately keeping rachet bombs maindeck. Recurring it through glissa can single handedly destroy a few prominent decks (B/W tokens for one). Deck is FNM ready, would love some comments though, I find that I may have missed a perfect card or sometimes simply defending my choices can reveal stuff I didn't see before. If anyone has a DKA legal Mono-red list for testing purposes could you link it in the comments, thanks!

Just replaced Mind Rot with Syphon Mind, just realized it has more potential in EDH than Mind Rot

Strangelove, 13 years ago

-2 Palladium Myr, +1 Liliana of the Veil, +1 Gideon Jura.

I feed Liliana the cards I can't use (Myr Superion with no Heartless Summoning, extra Heartless Summoning, etc.). The Palladium was often an inefficient chump.

Gideon Jura I wanted to try for his utility.

The concept of the deck is fairly simple: get loads of spirits out there. If you've got multiple copies of Drogskol Captain out there you hit like a truck, and hitting the Drogskol Reaver is an afterthought. With the Niblis of the Urn and Niblis of the Breath you stop your opponent from blocking or activating too many tricks on you.

Still working on a sideboard, I'll most likely have some Grafdigger's Cage in there but I'm hoping for some good suggestions...I've put the Suture Priest in there for now since I play a load of creatures and lifegain might come in handy....

-4 Scorned Villager  Flip +2 Mondronen Shaman  Flip +2 Ancient Grudge

Finally got my card order in and decided to not go with the 4x Scorned Villager  Flip. The mana curve is too low for it to be that useful especially in longer FFA games. Experimenting with Mondronen Shaman  Flip and can't go wrong with a solid card like Ancient Grudge

If you put counters on Tree of Redemption specifically Increasing Savagery 5 counters the first time and 10 the second that makes the tree a 15/28, switch life totals with it. The tree keeps the counters and you add whatever your life total was previously to it's toughness. You can do this every turn. Then when Feed the Pack comes in you have a TON of life AND tokens!

HelixSnapHelix, 13 years ago

After playtesting this quite a bit, I've been consistently getting ~8 tokens with at least one buff up by turn 5. On a good game, I'll have 8 tokens with a signal pest and Honor of the Pure out, turn 6 swinging for 24, 16 flying. The downfall I can see now is obviously not being able to remove issues found in artifacts or enchantments. Although, I can't see many artifact/enchantment problems too excessively difficult by turn 6-7... anyway, so far this deck has consistently swung for game by turn 6-8.

Added another Conquerer's Pledge, and a Sorin, Lord of Innistrad. Removed my Necroancer's Covenant and a Glorious Anthem

Dark Ascension Release

So, following the Dark Ascension release, i've added Immerwolf, Hellrider, Young wolf and Grafdigger's Cage to the sideboard

Mainboard Update

Steimtime, 13 years ago

Dropped down to 2x Geth's Verdict since token decks really make this card lose value, but it is still very important to take out Thrun, the Last Troll and Mirran Crusader. Also, dropped all four Smallpox. I really wanted to run them, but I think Distress is strictly better in the current meta where tokens and weenie decks reduce the effectiveness of Smallpox. Lastly, I cut 1 Grimgrin, Corpse-Born. He is a game-ending win-con, but he also is vulnerable to removal and I am attempting to keep mana costs low in this deck and win with U/B Zombie tribal beat downs.

Black Sun's Zenith feature for Zombie Aggro

HoneyBadger, 13 years ago

I made my choice of Distress over Despise. I don't NEED to hit a discard card on turn 1, the ability to remove ANY nonland permanent is worth waiting a turn for and is more effective late game when players will auto cast their creatures, but hold on to removal.
-1x despise, +1x mountain This brings me up to 27 lands. 26 wasn't doing the job for me: I'd much rather have 1 too many than be short a land (which was happening a little too often)

Update 1.1

Sideboard started. Surgical Extraction and 2x Memoricide.

Update 1.2

axefaktor, 13 years ago

Took out 2x Adaptive Automatonfoils. There's already enough tribal boosting in this deck, and since they can't be both wolf and werewolf, their usefulness, at least here, is limited. Replaced with Mondronen Shaman  Flip and a second Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip. I know Mondronen Shaman  Flip may not be everybody's 1st choice, but I want to test it out. Also took out a forest and replaced it with Kessig Wolf Run.

lewthejew, 13 years ago

After getting some initial feedback I've decided that some creature removal would be a good idea. So I've added Burden of Guilt and taken out one of the Reavers since I will only really play them when I get them with Call to The Kindred.

Minor Tweeks

joemoral2000, 13 years ago

Took out Mikaeus and one Angelic Overseer for two Mirran Crusaders. Also took out Mentor of The Meek for another Oblivion Ring.

HoneyBadger, 13 years ago

-2 Galvanic Blast +1 Slagstorm +1x Distress

So far, the most frequent source of losses occur vs decks that get more than one creature per card (the only deck it loses to with any frequency is white weenie). Hopefully another maindeck slagstorm will save my ass in the future, while distress lets me take out those pesky token making sorceries as well as let me see the hand i'm dealing with

Update 1.0

axefaktor, 13 years ago

Ok this is the deck as I currently have it. Like I said, basic BUG Pod with Vorapede and Hex Parasite. I've had pretty consistent success against Grixis Control and Law Maker. I'll work on the sideboard next.

Omnath, Locus of Mana feature for Omnath

HoneyBadger, 13 years ago

Grave Titan over Wurmcoil Engine FOR NOW- it's just an experiment, but my gut tells me its the right move. While I'm playtesting, I'll be asking myself: which would I rather have? I feel like grave titan fits better: his effect occurs when he ENTERS the battle field, he is slightly better when paired with Mimic Vat, and most of all: he is FASTER. Neither wurmcoil nor grave titan fit the kill spell creature theme (though being 6x6 death touchers, they are close enough to justify the win-condition nature of the 2 cards). By the time I have 6 mana, my opponents are usually still in double digit health, right now I'd rather swing for 10 health that takes 3 creatures to block attacking with one creature and gaining 6 life.

Sideboard

nanoex1, 13 years ago

I made the sideboard cards that I own. Im not sure what to remove for tragic slips, i feel like spot removal is so helpful.
MDN 3 / 7
Vorapede feature for B/G Pod.

Streamlining

AslanCross, 13 years ago

Removed the Grixis Grimblades in favor of Black Cat. The Grimblade has served only as a suicide blocker, and only when there was at least one other Grimblade (or Lich Lord of Unx) in play. Poor utility. Black Cat, in addition to being cute, can be cast with only black mana on hand, and has a disconcerting side effect of punishing your opponent for killing it. -3 Grixis Grimblade, +3 Black Cat. Geralf's Mindcrusher is a very effective game-ender due to it resisting most removal apart from exile. Furthermore, it mills a second time. A very underrated card, really, and when your opponent's reeling from getting his stuff countered or Doom Bladed, you can afford to wait till turn six. -1 Relentless Skaabs, +1 Geralf's Mindcrusher Undead Alchemist has proven itself to be the centerpiece of this deck, because while Diregraf Captain and Death Baron beef up your undead dudes, the Alchemist can multiply them exponentially, and tends to provide you with chump blockers so that you're not open even after an alpha strike. +1 Undead Alchemist. I've still yet to get that Havengul Lich, at which point I'll likely remove the Highborn Ghouls and run 4x Black Cat. After playtesting, Call to the Grave has proven itself to be an extremely frustrating soft lock if my opponent is playing with few creatures, and can at least slow down steamroller offenses enough to get my undying guys out.

Doing this from memory at the moment. Will finish when I have the deck in front of me. There are Viridian Emissarys and Deceiver Exarchs in there also, but I can't remember the amounts lol.
