FNM

Dominated a field of amazing decks with this contraption. Didn't even come close to losing a round. 1st round, G/W tokens: 2-0 in under 10 minutes. 2nd round, Voltcharge Red: 2-0 but sidedecked in Timely Reinforcements. Man are they amazing against Mono-Red. 3rd round, Wolfrun Ramp: 2-0 Kill the Inkmoth Nexus and control the Garruk, Primal Hunter and it's really simple. Finals, Mono-Black Infect: 2-0. Twas a joke. Not a single poison, and had to go to 5 cards second game.
+2 Joraga Treespeakers
HeadSnipingSam, 13 years ago
Through playtesting this deck quite a bit, the Wellwishers were just not necessary, but the Helix Pinnacle was a solid win condition, especially against my friend's infinite life deck. (I hate it btw cuz it is stupid XP) So I removed the wellwihers and added another Helix Pinnacle.
I did not want to be low on creatures, so I added 2 Joraga Treespeakers to help ramp mana even more. (like it needs it. I have had more than 1,000,000 mana available with this deck around turn 7 or 8 and about 320,000 elf tokens)
I also found that the Strength of the Tajuru tended to just stay in my hand, so I removed two and added another Genesis Wave because that was reliably useful. I also added two Immaculate Magistrate to replace the Strength of the Tajuru

7th place FNM 1/13 (3-1-1)
1) 0-2 Blue aggro/control featuring Delver of Secrets Flip and Runecaster's Pike. Could not find the answers.
2) 2-0 Blue aggro/control featuring Delver of Secrets Flip. Played correctly around counters both games.
3) 1-1-1 Bant human aggro featuring splash of Negates and Mana Leaks
4) 2-0 BG Infect. This was funny actually. Both games I correctly controlled the board, opting to stop every little creature I could. The guy couldn't keep the steam. Game 2 of the match ended with Venser's ultimate exiling everything.
5) 2-1 RDW. Can't believe I won this. Game 1 I lose quickly. Side board 3 Negate, 3 Flashfreeze, 2 Timely Reinforcements, 1 Tree of Redemption. Game 2 opponent scoops after a Karn goes ultimate. Game 3 I mulligan to 5 cards... proceed to draw into everything I need and win.

#2 in Standard tournament @ Day Dreams

Double elimination, won my first match, lost my second, won the next two. I went against the person I lost to in the semi-finals and won 2-0. He was running Kessig Wolf Run/Inkmoth with the Prim-Time and Inferno Titan. I then had to go against an Illusion deck, won 2-0, then against the SAME guy7 again. He took the match taking first and putting me in second.
It was a fun night. At the time I was only running two Myr Superion and have now added an additional two.

Beefed up a subtheme
ManaPoolChewie, 13 years ago
As I said in the last update, I took out the "any number of cards in hand" thing so I could focus on filling up hands and hurting opponents for it. I've taken that further by adding in Font of Mythos, Teferi's Puzzle Box, and Seizan, Perverter of Truth. To make room, I pulled out Blistergrub and Infectious Horror. Omen Machine, as much as I wanted to pair it with Kaervek, just has no place in the deck anymore because of the first line. Oh well, maybe some other time.
I also made a couple other little changes. I threw in a Pyrohemia and a Pestilence to beef up the potential damage I can deal. I removed Sizzle because it's just a one-shot spell. I also pulled out Malfegor because I realized that I will just never want to play him. I don't wanna discard my hand, and I don't care how good he is! Also, I replaced Chain Reaction with Blasphemous Act because...duh. Pound for pound, the Act is just better as a mass-removal spell. You guys have any comments?

First FNM with it.

First FNM try with it came in 4th out of 16 people. 4-1, accidentally whiffed it in the top 4.
Deck Update
Solomon, 13 years ago
Hello Everyone!
I completed the First Revision of this deck!
I still need to clean up the Maybeboard. It is currently a jumbled list of cards and ideas that may or may not fit into the deck.
Today marks the deck's launch day. I eagerly await any comments and suggestions that you may have to offer!
I will update this deck periodically (probably weekly, every Friday) until I feel that it has reached its maximum potential. As of now, however, I can see plenty of potential weaknesses. As I am still relatively new to Magic the Gathering, I would very much appreciate any further suggestions and/or constructive criticism that you may have to offer.

No more humans :(

Nixed the idea of having humans in here, but here's "Jor Kadeened Steel" Previously had tried to run this a human tribal with potential for Metalcraft.
Adding Havengul Lich
bman5604, 13 years ago
I have decided to add in Havengul Lich. Adding him allows me to get infinite mana combo along with damage with Hearless summoning in play and Priest of Urabrask and Perilous Myr. I still believe my deck can and will win without Heartless Summoning but with it on the field the options are almost limitless.
Credit to jessetaverne for pointing out the combo for me. I was already planning on making room for him but with the combo it made it much more enticing.

Removed 1 Instigator gang, removed red sun zenith, moved beast within to sideboard, removed 2 ghost quarters Added 4 gut shotcounter spells
kmard80, 13 years ago
really like this deck, however it feels like its vulnerable to counter spells and the Spelskite won't help against that.. not sure how to squeeze a mana leak in there. comments are very much welcomed

I'm wanting to drop in a sorin lord of innistrad when released to provide some blockers
chronocidist, 13 years ago
So I decided that yea the charms are cool but cascading into Blightning is just so much better. Now the deck has more burn and as such it will do a better job winning in that fashion. In addition I added a Havengul Lich to make help the deck along if it decided to stall out. With Havengul Lich I can easily just play a Bloodbraid Elf or an Enlisted Wurm from the graveyard if my hand dries up. Also as he can target any graveyard and this deck is 5 colors I can also steal their creatures. I also changed the rampant growths to sakura-tribe elders so that if I get one late game it can double as a chump blocker or a 6/6 trample with Tromp the Domains.
dark ascension spoilers
numa529, 13 years ago
Alas, i will not be able to make this FNM, and im heading back to college, so im looking towards the future: dark ascension spoilers.
cards of interest include Secrets of the Dead and Faithless Looting.
well... i dont think im adding the secrets. will all the card draw in here, i feel like adding the enchantment will act like a dead card in hand because im already stressed tapping out turn 3 for the Burning Vengeance, let alone having to tap out again turn 4 just to draw cards... not to mention, i run 4 Forbidden Alchemys, 3 Desperate Ravings, 4 Ponders, and a Think Twice... thats 12 cards of draw, literally a 1/5 chance that a card from my deck draws me cards. the most sensible switch would be ditching the other 3 drop blue card, forbidden alchemy for it, but forbidden alchemy fuels my graveyard, which is brilliant.
my point being... this is a burning vengeance deck, through and through, not a secrets of the dead deck. i dont need to draw a card when i flashback card draw. i need to deal damage when i flashback card draw.
that said, in comes Faithless Looting... draw 2, discard 2 for R, flashback for 2R. there are 2 cards competing with it, the first being Ponder, the second being Desperate Ravings. desperate ravings is draw 2 and send one as fuel to the graveyard potentially, while ponder is combo set up and delver set up... but without flashback.
i think im going to take out the Desperate Ravings for faithless lootings, because this deck needs ponder to give myself stable draws. if i ponder and i like what i see, i will keep it. i dont get to see whats next with faithless looting. also, the more one drops i can flash back with Past in Flames, the better.
which brings us to another point: Geistflame. ive been debating long and hard, and geistflame is looking better and better the more i see it. it kills off moorland haunt tokens, or flashes back as an Arc Trail/Lightning Bolt with the vengeance in play. more importantly... i dont need snapcaster to bring it back in a pinch. with the change of Arc Trail to Geistflame, more of my graveyard becomes less dependant on snapcaster, leaving only the counters, the ponder, and the Brimstone Volley. also, thats another one drop for Past in Flames to bring back in a flurry to kill a titan.
also, ditching the lone think twice for another Snapcaster Mage, but im not sure about the change. im even thinking of running 2 think twices, and this is just playtesting.
so, changes that are made:
-3 Desperate Ravings, -1 Think Twice, -3 Arc Trail
+3 Faithless Looting, +1 Snapcaster Mage, +3 Geistflame

Sideboard Update
Steimtime, 13 years ago
Added a fourth Mental Misstep to help with the aggro match-up. Took out a Doom Blade for it.

Take-outs
JesterOfGuns, 13 years ago
Got rid of im pretty sure all spirit cards. While spirit cards are good, i feel like they are only really good in an all spirit deck. Got rid of Auriok Edgewright + Inquisitor's Flail and Mask of Avacyn I no longer have any creatures/spells that cost 6. Kept two 5 cost as mini heavy hitters Elspeth Tirel + Serra Angel
Dead dead dead

Try to get Lumberknot and Boneyard Wurm onto the field quickly as well as hopefully dropping a turn one or two Vault Skirge. Then play Selfless Cathar and sac it to buff Lumberknot and th wurm, then use Sun Titan to bring it back. Put Spirit Mantle on Lumberknot and swing every turn.
Just an idea, please comment and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
