Updated changes to deck — Aug. 21, 2013

After playtesting at home I noticed that the Warden Of Evos Isle enabled my deck to play my flyers much earlier in the game and the Nephalia Seakite was a very effective surprise in all games that I drew it from the library. Also the Cancel worked well as cheap, effective removal and helped to keep the right tempo in play. Plus I was finding my hand was to full some times to use my Opportunity's so have removed one to make way for a forth Warden Of Evos Isle. So I have added the following - 1x Nephalia Seakite 1x Cancel And removed completely 1x Opportunity 2x Water Servant Will add my scores at FNM this Friday

-2 Memoricide +4 Go for the Throat
The addition of Go for the Throat helps remove creatures as they hit the battlefield, something I had let go unnoticed.Memoricide performs the same duty as Slaughter Games so I feel it will not be sorely missed.
I am still in great consideration of Extirpate and Surgical Extraction but I feel that with this deck is better off neutralizing threats that have not hit the graveyard yet. Despite the extra mana cost of Slaughter Games compared to them, I feel that it is still far more effective and can target a larger number of cards in a library.

Changed 2 Witchstalker for 2 AEtherling, haven't tested the deck yet, so i don't really know if it is a good idea.
Several Adjustments Made - Thanks All!

Added more removal.
Removed all Golgari Charm.
Adjusted certain creature counts to accommodate room for Deadbridge Goliath, once again.

Jace addition
chandlerwrx06, 11 years ago
As suggested Jace, Memory Adept was added as well as Jace, Architect of Thought. I decided to sideboard Haunted Plate Mail for the occasion I need more board presence/ aggro'ish win con.
Thus far it has been doing well with locking down the board and drawing out the game. Playing this against a couple of aggro decks I have has been fun and personally I would scoop by turn 7 or 8 just based on frustration.

+2 Knight of the White Orchid: had to do it to get the land base lower -2 Boros Garrison +1 Plains: We're running 21 lands now and the Knight of White Orchid 's make a huge difference. -2 Tajic, Blade of the Legion : A fun card, but really he's pushing the mana cost up too much. Swapping him out will give the deck a bit more flexability in situations of having low mana. +1 Figure of Destiny : I had one laying around and I always wanted to use one so I went ahead and threw him in. He's the new "fun card" I guess
Playtesting!

After my first day of playtesting with this deck, I came to an inescapable conclusion: Mass Appeal is, by far, the worst card in this entire deck. I've never, ever been happy to see it, and if I have enough humans on the field to make it worth it, I'm already winning. That crap is going out ASAP.

Deck played well and was super fun.
Match 1
Lose 2-1 VS UWG control.
Opponent was utilizing board wipe and fog, milled me the two games I lost. Biggest issue against this opponent was his ability to counter my late game spells. His slower early game allowed me to set up properly, but by end game he had plenty of mana/draw to counter my spells.
Answer - Side boarding Negatex4 vs control. Will consider including Cancel as well. When playing against control, sideboard out Shock and Turn / Burn, without enemy creatures they only serve burn purpose, which other spells can accomplish.
Match 2
Win 2-0 VS Izzet UR
Opponent utilizing Nivix Cyclops and avoidance like Artful Dodge with low cost spells to hit for big damage. Also was running Young Pyromancer and at one point had upwards of 10 counters on the board. Flames of the Firebrand and Aetherize allowed for board clear.
A great 4 cast Epic Experiment won me game 1. Second game came down to a last second Dragonshift on an Electromancer, allowing 6 damage with Guttersnipe.
Match 3
Win 2-1 VS Bant Hexproof
Hexproof biggest issue against this deck. Glaring Spotlight is the ideal solution, but I didn't have mine with me.
Aetherize and Cyclonic Rift (overload) were my best friends here. They allowed me to remove the enchantments he had placed on his hexproof creatures (Invisible Stalker).
Won a game by burning him down with Guttersnipe and countering a clutch Negate with Izzet Charm.
Second game was won by an epic Dragonshift Overload onto 2 electromancers and 2 snipes, dealing 20 total damage.

Burn deck

I've been play testing this deck out a lot now, and I am always killing the opponent before turn 8, I have never made it to turn 10 yet without doing 20 non combat dmg to opponent, playtest this deck for me a bunch of times and tell me what your results are. UPDATE: so far ive changed a couple things around, its working out very well for me, faced my friend irl against his rakdos deck which usually dominates, went 5 and 0 on him.

-2 Selesnya Charm +2 Heroes' Reunion
Heroes' Reunion works really great with Voracious Wurm and Angelic Accord so just figured I'd throw in a nice combo to keep things interesting and keep my synergy high throughout the deck.

First Tuesday magic I went 3-1 and came in second when they cut down to top 4 playoffs. My losses were to U/W Flash both times. I'm tuning the deck as we speak and need some help as you can see there are 57 cards in the deck I have 3 free spots for each of these, either 3 doomed travelers, or going for more removal with 2 abrupt decay and another necromancer I can't seem to decide and could use some help doing so.

FNM UPDATE
MikeJS, 11 years ago
2-2
Game 1 - 2-0 - I faced some kind of Junk deck. Won both games by resolving an Aetherling
Game 2 - 0-2 - I face Epser Control, where the guy was running about 14 counterspells. He milled me out with Jace, Memory Adept the first game, and killed me with Aetherling the second.
Game 3 - 0-2 - Sliver aggro. I had very little aggro defense. Both games were relatively fast losses for me.
Game 4 - 2-0 - Esper Control. The first game went 25 minutes, and we both had about 18 land on the board by the end. I only won because I managed to resolve an Aetherling. Game 2 was a similar experience.
Better than last week, but still eh. Here are the changes I made for next week, based on what did and didn't work.
-1 Ral Zarek
-2 Turn / Burn
+2 Counterflux
+1 Island
