I wanted to build a simic deck based around Koma, Cosmos Serpent but he costs a ton of mana. My playgroup generally uses a ton of removal so high cost commanders are generally a no-go. I started thinking of the best ways to cheat him into play and I stumbled upon obscene shenanigans with Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy . So while Kinnan is truly the commander of this deck, he is just a means to an end to cheat Koma out into play and then overwhelm my opponents.

Do you like playing on everyone else's turns? I know I do.

This deck is still a work in progress so please comment. Sideboard and maybeboard are just there to organize my thoughts while building. Maybeboard are cards that I would most likely swap in depending on how it plays over time.

Recent changes from June 2021:

In: Adrix and Nev, Twincasters : Pretty obvious why this guy is being added. Doubles tokens generated by Koma, Cosmos Serpent .

Garruk's Packleader : I couldn't ignore this guy any longer for two major reasons. One, he is a creature so he can be put into play through Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy ability. Two, he grants card draw off anything that comes into play with 3 power or greater. Works wonderfully with Koma, Cosmos Serpent .

Spawning Kraken : This guy works beautifully with Koma, Cosmos Serpent and the Serpents he creates. Easy to include him into the deck.

Intruder Alarm : This is just stupid powerful with Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy ability to put creatures into play and all of the mana dorks in the deck. I didn't have this in initially as I was afraid it would make the deck too powerful.

Kogla, the Titan Ape : he's a bigger better version of Trygon Predator , attacks when he enters, destroys on attack step instead of damage, and can bounce humans to my hand (not that we have a lot of those but still).

Out: Nezahal, Primal Tide : Big beater on a stick with card draw and max hand size. Seems great but with the creatures above he just didn't make the cut. I may put him back in in the future but Spawning Kraken and Garruk's Packleader take the cake for creating more creatures and card draw hands down.

Trygon Predator : he can't compete with Kogla, the Titan Ape with enchantment and artifact destruction, even with flying.

Ravenform : Needed a cut and this didn't make it.

Rite of Replication : This was a tough cut. I would love to cast this on Koma, Cosmos Serpent while Sakashima of a Thousand Faces is out but the above cards really make a difference in how the deck plays.

Sylvan Scrying : It's just not a great card compared to the above options and having a bunch of mana dorks in the deck.
