White & Green Legends

Casual GW (Selesnya)

Warhammer39999

Maybeboard

Overview:

This is a deck built around Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle . I wanted to make a deck filled with applicable legends and efficient creatures under 4 mana that could be returned with Teshar's ability. The deck had to include white, but also wound up including green because of the value provided by Reki, the History of Kamigawa .

In general, the deck spills out into two types of cards:

Card Draw and Enchantment/Artifact Removal:

As the decks I make are casual and do not have sideboards, any deck tries to conform to two stipulations: it must be able to deal with artifacts/enchantments (preferably at least two cards) and it should also have some element of card draw. Both of these features should attempt to stay on theme whenever possible.

  • Reki, the History of Kamigawa & Captain Sisay - These satisfy my card draw components, though to a lesser extent Selvala, Explorer Returned , Karametra, God of Harvests , and Kamahl's Druidic Vow also provide a little extra oomph here as well.

  • Qasali Pridemage - I have a hard time not using the pridemage when going with G/W decks for dealing with artifacts and enchantments. For one more mana than a disenchant, I get a 2/2 body with exalted, so that's hard to pass up. I liked him in this deck because, as with all of the sacrificial creatures, it's a repeatable effect once Teshar hits the table. I also considered using Thrashing Brontodon in this situation because he also meets the need and has a much better body. I opted not to in this case because the GG in the casting cost was a little rough and the deck can use some early blockers.

Win Conditions:

The deck really plays out with you putting down cheap critters in the early game--trading is great because they eventually turn everything into 2 for 1's, but even chump blocking isn't so bad with this deck. It all hinges on getting out a Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle and then casting more legends for card advantage. One thing I found in here as a cool combo is Oriss, Samite Guardian which is something people rarely use. By casting a legendary critter per turn, you can pull her back to her hand and repeatedly use her grandeur effect to largely lock a player out of the game.
