Introduction

I love playing the Golgari color pair. I love to sacrifice things for value. Grismold, the Dreadsower, or as I like to think of him, Clark W. Grismold, gives me a chance to do what I like.

Here's my take on Grismold, the Dreadsower. Yeah, he gives other players tokens, but gets bigger when token creatures die. And he doesn't care who the tokens belong to. Grizzy is great because he makes the tokens needed to fuel his triggered ability. But I need to accelerate the process so Grizzy gets bigger, faster.

Bring Friends

The first thing I needed to do was make more tokens than just those Grizzy creates at the end of my turn. Casting creatures like Catacomb Sifter, Dread Drone, Eyeless Watcher, and Nest Invader come with a creature token alongside. Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder's trigger is great for creating more sacrifice fodder. From Beyond and Awakening Zone are great, too.

Sacrifice

Clark Grismold's friends tend to suffer when he's around. Same holds true in this deck. The only reason I want these creatures to bring these friends around is so they can die to Grizzy. Most of the tokens that are created in this deck can already sacrifice themselves for mana without having to tap, so they can readily assist Grizzy. I love these because they provide more ramp for the deck along with fueling the deck's strategy. If I don't need to use them for mana, I have other great sac outlets that give value. Evolutionary Leap lets me dig for another creature, hopefully one that brings friends with it. Phyrexian Plaguelord is great for removal. Emrakul's Evangel can exchange nontoken creatures for token creatures that help Grizzy more. Fallen Ideal is great for helping push Grizzy over the top.

Nadier, Agent of Duskenel is like Cousin Eddie to Clark Grismold here. The two basically feed off of each other.

Killing the Other Tokens

Although I'm mostly focused on being able to sacrifice my own tokens to buff up Grismold, I'd also like to take out the tokens he gives to other players. Engineered Plague, Pestilence, Golgari Charm, and Thorn Mammoth do this nicely. I've added Virulent Plague and Illness in the Ranks. Although they will kill my mana producing Eldrazi, they are good for ensuring that I have tokens dying all the time, and are very useful against other token decks.

Finishing Touches

The deck has one combo in it: Animation Module + Ashnod's Altar + Grismold, the Dreadsower will make Grizzy infinitely huge.

Updates Add

I added Nadier, Agent of Duskenel to the roster. I like to think of him as Cousin Eddie in this deck; he and Clark will feed off of each other.
